Sorry for the pathetic newbie question, but I'm new to VideoStudio and am still trying to figure stuff out and didn't find this question answered with the search function....Mainly, is there not a way to save the progress of your timeline? So far my workflow has me editing every clip in library mode, then transferring it all down to the timeline so I can insert music, titles, transitions, etc.....and due to the size of my project, I wasn't able to finish before leaving tonight. So I saved everything (or so I thought), but when I opened my project later in VS again, there was nothing in the timeline! (it saved all of my edited files above in the library, but all of my work on titles, overlays and music was lost). Did I do something wrong, or does this program force you make all of those detailed edits and additions in one fell swoop without any chance of saving or taking a break?
Thanks for your help!

Re: VS x4 Saving Timeline Progress?
You can stop and save at any time and re-open later to continue.
When you want to finish for a while (to go to bed say) go to "File >> Save" - this will create a .vsp file which you give a name to and tell it where to save so you know where to find it next time. then you can shut down VideoStudio and your computer.
when you want to continue next time go to "File >> Open" and select the .vsp you want to open - this will put everything back in the timeline just the way it was when you saved. It is a good idea (as with any programme) to save regularly so that should something happen to your computer you do not have to re-start again just carry on from the last save.
during work on a long project I also do a "Save as" occasionally and create a .vsp with a slightly different name - just as a back up.
Try doing all your work in the timeline and leaving it there while you are working on the one project.
You can save a different .vsp for each project so you do not have to finish one before starting another - you just open the relevant project file (.vsp) and continue working.

Re: VS x4 Saving Timeline Progress?
Thanks for your reply, Brian. Crazy thing is though, is that is *exactly* what I'm doing, every time. I've tried so many times, with both "Save" and "Save As". Close VideoStudio, then reopen. And still, any progress on the timeline is never saved. Again, the thumbnails/clips that I alter always do get saved, so at least that is functioning properly. But the timeline never saves a thing. Very frustrating; I must be missing something bluntly obvious?

When you click 'Save' a dialogue box opens and you have to give the project file a name and select where it saves to - click 'save' in the dialogue box and then shut down.
Can you see those .vsp files on your computer in the location you saved them to.
When you just open VideoStudio there is NEVER anything in the timeline - you have to start Videostudio - then go to 'file' after the first time the name of your project file will be at the bottom of the drop down in the recent file area - if it is not you need to click on 'Open project' then use the browse window to go to the folder with your .vsp file in it and select it and click open and your project should reload into the timeline just as you left it.
Alternatively before you start VideoStudio use 'my computer' to browse to the folder with the .vsp file - right click on the one you want - and choose 'open' or 'open with' - VideoStudio - then the programme will open with your videos in the timeline.
