I can consistently get VSP X4 to crash if it slows down during mouse click inputs in the multi-edit window trying to advance frames and I put too many clicks into the buffer.
Has anyone noticed this and found a fix?

Ummm... what's the 'multi-edit window'? Indeed, what do you mean by 'multi-editing'?

Re: VSP X4 Crashes During Multi-Edit
I was wondering the same thing as I have never heard of "multi-edit". Perhaps the poster means "multi-trimming"?

Should have used Multi-Trim, same concept, different words.

Re: VSP X4 Crashes During Multi-Edit
Hi
First I have to say that I do not use Multi Trim but prefer to use the scissors cutting the video in the main timeline then deleting the section I do not require.
Some crashes can be associated with the type of video file we use
From the timeline, right click the clip and select properties, what are they?
post the details to the forum.

Re: VSP X4 Crashes During Multi-Edit
Hi,

In any case I think my question is more generic, I've noticed crashes before based on too many mouse clicks, so the properties you requested may answer that base question.
Thanks for the reply.
Trying a workaround I did the multi-trim in the main trim area. I simply had to remember the time of the last trim, add the original video back to the timeline and start a new trim from the last end time.lata wrote:First I have to say that I do not use Multi Trim but prefer to use the scissors cutting the video in the main timeline then deleting the section I do not require.
I'm consistently using the same 1920x1080 AVCHD (.m2ts) video files because they're so good and the camera makes it so easy. It'll record over 2 hours continuous, hence the reason for the multi-trim. Except for the crashes VSPX4 has no problem making a new AVCHD or export to Vimeo, pretty amazing software. Some crashes can be associated with the type of video file we use

I am sorry but I don't understand what you are doing there.Roger wrote:

I prefer to remove sections in the way lata describes

Re: VSP X4 Crashes During Multi-Edit
Hi Roger
First go to Preferences(F6) -- Clip Display Mode to Thumbnail Only.
There are many ways to cut the clips and remove unwanted frames, how you do it depends on you, hear are some methods.
Start a new project
Place a video in the top timeline, use the sample V18 thats the countdown clip
If you wish to remove the end frames, lets remove the "5"
Option 1 --Simply drag the end yellow trim handle to the right, this will remove end frames.
Do the same for the end frames.
Notice the white bar below the preview screen indicates the selected clip.
Option 2 -- position the curser at the position you wish to cut -- for this clip that would be 1 second (00:00:00:24) = (one second for Pal) note you can set the digital click for frame to frame accuracy.
Now hit the Scissors, your clip is cut in two. the second section is now selected, again notice the white bar below the preview screen.
Click the first clip to select it, right click and delete, otherwise hit the keyboard delete.
Click the remaining clip to select.
Notice the white bla bla bla.....
Option 3
Removing a middle section
Reset the clip to full size, try hitting the "Undo" arrow above the clip. till the white bar is full.
Lets remove the Three counter.
Place curser over "3" hit the scissors, you now have two separate clips, now you can remove the end frames by dragging the yellow handles.
Otherwise position curser to start of 3, cut, end of 3, cut, you now have three clips, select the middle section and delete.
Just a note on the white bar, was blue in earlier versions, its multifunctional, used for different edits
