at present, the highlights slider in the exposure tool is only available when using raw files...
even if real highlight recovery is only possible with raw files, the "Highlights" slider still should be available even for JPEG and TIFFs!
It is frustrating, that highlights cannot be pulled down in JPEGs and TIFFs. This should be possible, without having to use the exposure slider. Since "Highlights" can be adjusted in JPEGs and TIFFs in other software (like PSP) I don't see why this slider has to be completely disabled in ASP!
PLEASE, don't disable the highlights-slider for jpegs and tiffs in ASP. If needed, ASP could just use a different algorithm for JPEGs and TIFFs, where real highlight recovery is not possible, but at least it should be possible to pull down highlights independently without having to use overall exposure!
Thank you for consideration!

Re: "Highlights" in exposure tool
Hmm, what should a highlight slider for rendered files do?
If it just pulls down exposure, then this would be useless.
So to have any merit, it needs to do something different than just pulling down exposure.
Got any ideas for an algorithm?
cheers

Re: "Highlights" in exposure tool
I understand why it's disabled. Every time I have played with a similar function on JPEGs in other programs all it did was make the highlights muddy.

Re: "Highlights" in exposure tool
i dont want to pull it down for all luminance values, but just the highligts, keeping the midtones and blacks untouched! PS does it very well also on rendered images, even PSP does a decent job! it is kinda possible with Bez, but not to the extent as I wished...
