I have a copy of Photoshop and perhaps the most common tools I use is the Highlight/Shadow adjustment on a single photo. In it you can open (lighten) the shadows and tame (darken) the highlights. I'd expect to apply this control globally to a video clip, not a frame.
Does VSP have this feature? If not, is it possible? Please educate me.
Thanks

Re: VSP Highlight/Shadow Adjustment?
The current version of VS (X5) -- and I think earlier versions -- has an Enhance Lighting filter which has a similar fill flash/enhance shadow effect similar to Photoshop's. And using key frames, the effect can be adjusted throughout a video clip.

Yes something similar exist under Color Controls. I have control over contrast, brightness, saturation, etc. But after applying these controls I need to multi-trim a 15-min clip and a popup says all the color controls will be reset to default. Is their a workaround to have both?Ken Berry wrote:The current version of VS (X5) -- and I think earlier versions -- has an Enhance Lighting filter which has a similar fill flash/enhance shadow effect similar to Photoshop's. Seems I could process the entire 15-min into a new file, then multi-trim that. Hopefully something easier.
Thanks

Hi
Do not use Multi Trim instead use the scissors on the timeline to cut th clip into segmnts, delete he bits you do not require.

Re: VSP Highlight/Shadow Adjustment?
I think you can have both.
If you have already applied color adjustments and now want to use multi-trim, you can drag the clip with the adjustments from the timeline back to the library. Next go ahead and do the multi-trim on the clip on the timeline, which removes the color settings as informed. After you are done with the multi-trim, drag the clip with the color settings in the library down to an empty track. Right-click on it and select Copy Attributes. Select the clips that resulted from the multi-trim, right-click on one of them, and select Paste Attributes. That will paste the color attributes back to each clip from the multi-trim. Finally clean up the timeline by removing that clip used as a color preset carrier.
