I purchased and installed version PSPX4 in Jan. 2012, and started noticing, what appears to be, a duplicate copy of the same file with an Asian type file format in the Recent Doc folder. When I attempt to do a weekly scan of my system for spyware, malware, etc. and weekly clean up of my registry, temp files and other files taking up space, one of my programs finds files listed in the registry under the Recent Doc folder that it cannot clean as the format is not recognized. Even though the properties of the file link the file back to the folder the .jpg file is stored in, there really isn't a file with that format. This is just a reference, and very annoying.
I reported this to tech support and their solution was to uninstall and reinstall the program under a new user account and then apply "Run as Admistrator". Well, I did do a complete uninstall, used a couple of my registry cleaner programs to rid the registry of all reference to PSPx4 and then reinstalled. However, I did not create a new user account. This is a single user computer, and I am the administrator. That solution is unacceptable to me as I should not have to create a new user when installing software.
I need to point out this does not happen when the files are saved as .gif, or .pspimage file; just when saved as .jpg file. There also has to be an edit of an original opened filed that requires selecting, copying, pasting and then saving the new image.
Has anyone else experienced this problem; and if so, were you able to fix the problem? And how? This may not be a big issue for some; however, it causes extra work as I have to manually delete these files. I'm almost tempted to go back to using PSP XI; the thing is, I don't think Corel would give me a refund after 6 months.
Any feedback and assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Recent Doc folder showing duplicate file with strange fo
I have found similar files, But I had to turn off the hide system files to be able to see them.
Seems to be part of windows rather than Paintshop pro.
In PSPX4 the Recent File (File--> Recent Files does not show any of those characters.
Does not seem to be having any other effect on operations so am letting it be and hiding system files again.

Re: Recent Doc folder showing duplicate file with strange fo
When I reported this, I was told by the PSP Development Team that the 'characters' are ancient Chinese.
I sometimes see them in the Exif data of some photos.
So far there has not been an explanation why they're there, making me think that they don't know either

Re: Recent Doc folder showing duplicate file with strange fo
Thank you Joëlle for the response. I uninstalled PSP X4 and upgraded to PSP X5. So far, I've edited several .jpg images and the Recent Doc Folder doesn't contain any duplicate files with the chinese character file format.
And to hartpaul...this issue was with PSP X4 version and has nothing to do with Windows. I've had every version of Windows since 3.1 and every version of PaintShop Pro since 5 (1993). I installed Windows 7 in Feb. 2011; using PSP XI and did not have this issue. I upgraded to PSP X4 in Jan. 2012 and immediately had this problem. If this were an issue with Windows then the problem would appear editing .jpg files using other graphics editing software; that doesn't happen. And just to clarify the issue - the files do not appear in the File -->Recent Files list; they appeared in the Windows User Recent Doc folder where all other recent document history appears. As I've mentioned above, I uninstalled PSP X4, upgraded to PSP X5 and the problem appears to have been resolved. At least for now.
