Pro x5 - ScreenShot Video - Blurry when edit clips together

Post by Jrizzle »

Hi,

I'm new to videos so I will apologize in advance since I assume my issues are probably "user error".

I am making a screen shot video for my website. I created 6 individual short videos that look great. When you play them individually, they look great. These are "how to use the website" short videos that do have typing on the screen. The typed words are perfectly clear as individual videos.

As soon as i merge the clips into 1 video, the typed words and the whole video gets fuzzy.

I have re-shot new videos and I get the same result.

I have searched all over the internet for the last couple of weeks researching a solution. I've enlisted smart proxy and gone through just about every setting in "preferences" painstakingly slow and I still can't figure it out.

Does anyone have any idea what i'm doing wrong?

All of my information for my computer should be correct, but wasn't sure if i got the video card correct.

Thanks in advance if anyone can help as this is causing me not to be able to launch my new company. Please let me know if you have any questions in case i missed anything.

No one can help me with this? I guess my only option is to pay to call tech support. Any one have any other options before I do that? Thanks in advance for any help.

I don't think anybody can really see what you are doing wrong since you have not really posted what you are doing exactly.
You mention you created "6 short videos" but nowhere do you explain how you did, what steps did you take exactly, where did the original sources come from, etc.

You have to explain exactly what you do, what settings you using etc. Talking in general terms is not helpful since we are not looking over your shoulder and seeing what steps you are taking.

Hi

Just to add, if you are taking a screen shot, I assume a video then it will use the resolution of your monitor. We need some details of the video file, a link to the web site and the page you are recording may help us understand exactly what you are doing.

With the video file in the timeline right click the clip and select properties, what are they.?

What program are you using to record the screen shot?
The screen shot option provided with X5 was designed to record video tutorials, at least thats the impression i get.
The frame rate of 15fps is the max it will do, so recording an actual movie may be low quality, certainly not designed for HD recording.

Canuck & Lata,

Thanks for the responses and telling me specifically what I need to show you since i am a novice at this.

Here is a link to the screenshot video(please don't laugh at the music, I was having fun once i learned how to mix them together..lol):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Zdd8gPpt1A

I'm going to attempt to explain what I did in short steps:

This is a how to sign up screenshot video for my website that i'm hoping to post on youtube so people can figure it out without having to contact me.

1. For each page of the website, I made a screenshot video. There are a total of 6 individual videos.

2. Not sure of the correct term, but then I took the 6 individual videos and put them into one video together.

3. When i watch the 6 individual videos by themselves, they are perfectly clear and you can read the words on the screen perfectly.

4. When i edited the 6 videos into one video, it comes out blurry as a finished video.

5. I tried to record something else, same result.

Questions from Lata's post(going to answer right after them)

With the video file in the timeline right click the clip and select properties, what are they.?
File Format: NTSC DVD
File Size: 38,026 KB
Duration: 109.109 seconds

Video
Video Type: MPEG-2 Video, Upper Field First
Total Frames: 3,270 frame(s)
Attributes: 24 bits, 720 x 480, 16:9
Frame Rate: 29.970 frames/sec
Data Rate: Variable bit rate (Max. 8000 kbps)

Audio
Audio Type: LPCM Audio
Total samples: 5,237,237 Samples
Attributes: 48000 Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo

What program are you using to record the screen shot?
I'm using "VideoStudio Pro X5 Ultimate"

The screen shot option provided with X5 was designed to record video tutorials, at least thats the impression i get.
The frame rate of 15fps is the max it will do, so recording an actual movie may be low quality, certainly not designed for HD recording.

(Lata, that is what has me so confused. As single videos for each webpage, they look beautiful. The minute I put them into one video together, it goes blurry. I have to imagine there is some setting or something that can fix this since it is already perfectly clear. Anyways, i am confused and next step is to call the tech geniuses and get some more education)

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me and sorry if this is a remedial question.

Hi

The X5 screen capture creates WMV video files using 15 fps.

Using the screen capture set the frame size to 1280 x 720, this will capture to widescreen 16:9 ratio.
(are you able to set 1280 x 720?)

The captured clips should be good quality.

When you convert/render the clips you should use similar settings as the original.

I notice that the WMV profiles use some Corel Screen Capture Profiles.
However the Ulead - WMV HD 720p NTSC Standard Quality may be more suitable.
------------------------------------
I would try the Mpeg4 types

Using X5 Settings -- Make Movie Templates Manager create a new Mpeg 4 template to.

MPEG-4 Files
24 bits, 1280 x 720, 30 fps
Frame-based
H.264 Main Profile Video: 2000 Kbps
44100 Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo
MPEG AAC Audio: 128 Kbps

To enter all details move back and forth between the General tab and Compression tab
Note:-
The template will double the frame rate to 30fps, don’t worry to much about that.
Video for the internet uses Frame Based
The file size will be much larger.

Project Playback quality is not great, provided the final video plays ok thats all that matters.
The tests I preformed using the above settings produced good video, well better than your YT sample.

Creating the templates can be a little complicated, gets better with practice.
