Extend Custom Kelvin range
Please can we have the WB setting range for the Custom Kelvin setting be decreased to allow 1000K. This is really useful when doing IR image processing.
Also to be able to WhiteBalance JPG/TIFF files would be good.

I agree that the range is not wide enough.jknights wrote:Please can we have the WB setting range for the Custom Kelvin setting be decreased to allow 1000K. This is really useful when doing IR image processing.
I honestly don't think that this will ever happen, as colour correction for de-mosaiced images in a gamma space is different to RAW images.jknights wrote:Also to be able to WhiteBalance JPG/TIFF files would be good.

What I would like to see is a decent color balance tool with a good automatic starting point like PWP does it.ferdinand-paris wrote:I honestly don't think that this will ever happen, as colour correction for de-mosaiced images in a gamma space is different to RAW images.jknights wrote:Also to be able to WhiteBalance JPG/TIFF files would be good.

Re: Extend Custom Kelvin range
Have you tried changing the floor level for this slider to 1000 in the BasicTools.ui file?
Line 424
I haven't got any IR shots to try it out on, but I know that this change to the settings has been used in creating "pseudo IR" artwork.

Answer is No as I assumed that wouldnt be sufficient.
But I will definitely try it and report back.

Sounded interesting, so I gave it a try, just for fun.Dutchmm wrote:Have you tried changing the floor level for this slider to 1000 in the BasicTools.ui file?

Unfortunately, I couldn't find the value at the line, so I searched for it and found it twice which I changed to 500. After launching ASP, the cursor still stepped down at 1500. So, I did the same with the /Advanced/WhiteBalance.ui file. Launched ASP once more, but still no way to use values lower than 1500.
Puzzling...

Re: Extend Custom Kelvin range
Hmm, perhaps the line numbers differ from version to version? I wouldn't have expected it, though.
The fact that you didn't find 1500 at line 424 makes me wonder whether you are on the same version as me? In my case, 1.0.1.10.
A good, version independent, way to find the value would be to search for the widget kelvin_slider, then look for the next occurrence of "minimum">
It is important to look for the ">, because there is another tag minimumSize between the first and the second targets.
I agree, anyway, that the temperature AS displays won't go below 1500, unless you reduce the minimum value for the spinbox that's next to the the kelvin_slider. This is kelvin_edit, and the property you are looking for is, again, minimum">
I tried reducing the values on my file to 500, just to see whether I could, and the (not IR) photo changed from all blue to having a red background, which suggests to me that AS's formula has some floor temperature between 500 and 1000, and if you go below that, AS wraps.

check here the download: http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... 53#p250153
you'll find a new UI for WhiteBalance and BasicAdjustments where you can pull the Temperature down to 1000 Kelvin...!

Re: Extend Custom Kelvin range
Did the UI changes and set floor to be 900K.
This works but everything takes on a green colour which then needs to be adjusted out using the various settings.
For IR images I guess that a combination of adjustment of WB temp to 900K and then some MathBox changes using a preset may be the final answer. More trial and error work required to prove this.

Thanks Myukuri, I'm going to compare your file with the one I modified and try to understand what was wrong with me.
Unless it could be due to the fact that I replaced 1500 with 500, while you stepped to 1000 ?
==> Dutchman : I'm actually using current ASP version, so I can't figure what could be wrong.
Regards,
J.-Luc
