Video is not fluid

Post by ultradj83 »

Hello there.

I'm rendering a project to H264 HIGH 1920x1080, 30fps (forced by Videostudio), 18000kbps.

Source clips are H264 1920x1080, 29.9fps, 18000kbps.

The only particular filter in use is Mercalli, to stabilize video, and it seems to work.

If I play the completed project in Video Studio it's ok, but when I create the .mp4 file, it plays absolutely not fluid.

I'm trying to deal with rendering parameters, but no luck until now.

Can anybody help me?

Thanks a lot.

Could you better describe what you mean by "absolutely not fluid" please.

The video shows a sailing competition.

Boat's movement is not fluid, not uniform.
Also when camera moves left-right it is not uniform.

Is it clear now?
Sorry but I can find no more words...

Thanks!

Not really, can you post a small section on line for us to see?

Do you see jagged edges on the movement? If so, it could be a reversal of field order.

What are you watching it on?
Does it look just as bad on a tv if you are using a pc?
What happens if you try a different file type?
Can you right click a video on the timeline and give full details of the project files and also the settings for the shared file

Also, are you specifically selection Share > Create Video File > MPEG-4 for a particular reason? If the original video is AVCHD, why are you not selecting AVCHD as the output format? It too is mpeg-4 though uses different internal flags from the 'straight' mpeg-4. Do you need a file with the extension .mp4 instead of AVCHD's .m2ts/.mts?

Well, no reason for a specific container.
I only want to use H264 because I repute it the best.
After rendering, I will recode with Handbrake, the original 1,4GB file becomes 500MB and I can't see any difference on a 55" LED TV.
Thanks for the idea, now starting a render to AVCHD.

This is the latest render recoded with Handbrake:

Tks!

Update.

This is the render to AVCHD:
https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B-XmHa ... Gw0NGxIRUk

Problem reduced, but not solved.

Now trying to change project properties: in Italy we have PAL 25fps as standard, so Videostudio doesn't allow me to render at 29.97fps, like original clips are:

I changed to NTSC and now I'm rendering.

Hope this will fix...

Nothing to do.
It doesn't allow me to save at 29.97fps.

Can anybody help me to understand why?

You should be able to select Share > Create Video File > Custom. Then in the first dialogue box which comes up, after 'Save As Type' select "MPEG Transport Stream (.m2t)". Then click the Options button. A new tabbed box will appear. Select the Compression tab. At the top there is a button labelled 'Media Type' and by default in your case it should read "PAL HDMV". Click the little arrow beside that and select "NTSC HDMV". Now the other settings should reflect that. You will see on the General tab that the frame rate is now 29.97 fps.

Back on the Compression tab, you will also need to change the Video Format button from MPEG-2 to H.264 Video, and below that, tick the AVCHD box. Then change the Video Data Rate up to 18000. Now click OK to close that dialogue box. On the original dialogue box, give your new file a name and click Save. The conversion should now start.

If you are going to do this often, you can also make a Custom template with the NTSC properties using Make Movie Template Manager under Settings and following a similar process as outline above.

Ken, thank you so much.

I don't know why, but during dozens of previous attempts with m2ts it has never shown the compression tab.

It's rendering, hope my problem will be definitively solved.

Thanks again!

If you select Share > Create Video File > AVCHD, then you will get the default country TV system and won't be able to change it. This is possibly what you were doing. You need to go the 'Custom' route I described above to change the TV system. When burning a disc where you want to burn an NTSC one, then you need to select NTSC in the first icon in the bottom left of the burning screen.
