How can I change the color of the background in an image from white to transparent?
I am using PSP v7.04

In PSP 8 (Should work in PSP 7) I would make sure layers palette is visible (View -->Palette-->Layers OR hit the F8 key) . Then Right click the layer and Promote Background Layer.
Then use Magic Wand tool, Mode =Add, Match Mode = RGB (or brightness, or whatever shows the greatest difference between what you want to delete and want to keep).
Once all the sections you want to delete are selected , just hit the delete key and that selected portion becomes transparent.
