Help with Mesh Warps

Post by starrybee »

Hi there!

I am trying to edit a photo using the mesh warp tool. I have it exactly as I want it, but when I go to apply it, every part of the photo I have warped gets deleted and I just get the white background underneath. I have looked online for guides and videos but when they apply their changes their edits stay exactly the same! Why aren't mine? Am I doing something really stupid? I've googled the problem and it just seems to be who's got it :D What am I doing wrong??

Thanks

Well, all we really know is that you're using the Mesh Warp. Impossible to say what you're doing wrong assuming you're doing anything wrong at all.

If you haven't already, I suggest you save your workspace before trying this. Especially if you've made a lot of changes to the workspace over time.

Go to File->Workspace->Save.

Then try resetting your workspace. If at any time PSP starts performing strange functions where it used to act normally try this first.

Close PSP. Then while holding Shift double click on the desktop icon. It should ask if you want to reset PSP to factory defaults. See if that helps.

If not try contacting support directly. As it could be a result of something you're doing, it could be a result of your hardware, or certain drivers. It's all really hard to know.

A am working on Windows XP. I took an image of a plane against a blue sky and applied the mesh warp. No problems with deletion of images. Used X4. X3, X2 and PSP8 and did with background image and also a duplicate of background image in X4.
Problem does not seem to be a replicable one with PSP . AS Levifiction has suggested might need to reset your program, or reinstall, or test it out on another computer or upgrade to Windows 7 or retrograde to XP. I have heard that Vista does operate in diferent ways.

I have had something similar happen a while ago, with PSP9, while using the warp brush. The solution was in the Final Apply setting. Checking the Best Quality was causing the image edges to be all chewed up. Since the same setting exists for the Warp Mesh, maybe change the setting for the Final Apply too? I am not sure it will work, but certainly worth a try. Good luck and let us know if it helps.
