Hello everyone. I'm a new VideoStudio X5 user. I have a couple of questions. First of all I'm trying to key frame an overlay video ( or picture) from a distorted position to another different distorted position. I tried Picture in Picture but that effect only changes position not distortion (well it can be distorted with rotating x,y or z but it does not give the desired effect). So how can achieve that effect
My second problem is that while the video (or picture) moves from one point to another point at certain positions I want that video become invisible. Again I tried Picture in Picture. Why picture in picture gives a black background? First I tried to remove that black background with chroma key but some parts of the video became invisible (because of black background). Since I defined a mask, I can not define another mask to specify invisible positions. When I tried mask frame for that video, the mask frame also moves with the video. I want the mask to stay where it is. Do you have any suggestions.
My last question is about texts. I want my text to move from right to left. There are lots of fancy text effects, but I couldn't find that one. There is one close to that one but the letters bends to one side.
Key Framing

Re: Key Framing
Hi
Welcome to the forums
Not sure I understand all the queries, but will start this off In reverse..........
Text
Choose the Fly option adjacent to the Apply tick
Then click the two TT's symbol, this will open another window allowing you to manually set the animations.
Select the enter and exit points.
If you select a pause duration, this will be indicated by the blue bar below the preview screen.
Drag the handles to adjust the timings.
------------------------------
Picture -in - Picture and chroma key.
Choose the Type as Mask
Select the full mask, 4th up left column, at least that’s where I find it.
That should remove the background without affecting the video.
------------------------------
And the first question, well you dont really say what type of distort you are trying to achieve.
by distort do you mean re-sizing but keeping the aspect ratio, or actually changing the shape.

Re: Key Framing
Text problem solved. Thank you
Let me try to describe the other problems with some pictures. In the second picture, I tried to describe the first question. So I want to tween the image in the screen to full screen. But picture in picture does not let me do such key framing
First picture is for the second question. Suppose the rose bouquet is the main video and the star is the overlay video. I want to move that star but at some point I want to hide it as seen in the image. Full mask only removes the black background from picture in picture. But I also want to define mask with the shape of bouquet to hide the star. Do you know how the do it?

Re: Key Framing
Hi
There may be a few ways to achieve this.............try
Use the Track Manager to add more overlay tracks.
Using the first add the star, resize and position.
Using the second overlay track add the flowers, right click preview screen and fit to screen, repeat for Keep Aspect ratio, if required.
The star should now float behind the flowers.
The globe and TV
Left video/image in first overlay track.
Copy of Place holder in 2nd overlay track, resize to fit tv.
-------------------
render the video to combine the two to a single video fil.
Using the new video in overlay track 1 and place-holder in top track
Use the FX Video Pan and Zoom to zoom into the tv screen
-------------------
Use (attributes tab, direction and styles ) fade out applied to overlay track will effectively fade to top track.

Re: Key Framing
Thanks for the help. An extra overlay with the flower video worked. But for the pan and zoom situation, it does not seem very continuous especially if the place holder is a video. Anyway thanks again.

Re: Key Framing
Hi
Not sure I understand the second statement.
The video rendered in the tv is the same as the video segment used in the top track.
So when the overlay fades out it will match the top video.
You render the two overlay tracks to create a single video.
Place in overlay track along with top track video
As you zoom-in yes the frames will be a little distorted but the tv is on a slant.
--------------------
As a side note......
If you use Pal then there will be some quality issues, a little flicker because the sample video uses Ntsc at 29 fps, pal uses 25 fps.
The rotating globe may not rotate as smoothly as you would expect.
It can be corrected by re-creating the video as pal, not a problem if you are using Ntsc.

Re: Key Framing
I was trying to say that since the tv is on slant, even if I use fade out, the transition from overlay to main video in not very smooth. But for the current situation it will work.
