Open .exr files

Post by BIG BUG »

Hi all!

Is it somehow possible to load .exr (OpenEXR) files with PSP X4?
This format seems not to be natively supported, the Photoshop plugin does not seem to work :-(

Thank you!

Unfortunately, PSP X4 does not support .exr and about the plugin, I tested the plugin and it unfortunately we cannot assure you if the plugin will work properly with the different version of PSP.

For the complete list of supported file format of PSP, you can visit: http://corel.force.com/index/articles/e ... -and-Write

Thank you. It would be great if this format could be supported in the next release...

I tried it. Can't find anything that will work in Windows. PSP is a Windows app. Too soon for EXR, IMO.
Had PS3, PSP3; Installed: PSP-4.12, 5.03, 6.02, 7.04 (liked it a lot & used it for years), 8.00, XI, x4.3.0.3, x6.2.0.20, x7.4.0.11, x8.3.0.13, x9.2.0.7; now using PSPx10 (PSP 2018; version 20.2.0.1 x64) on Win 10-64 b2004.

OpenEXR is too specific.
And common monitors are 8bit and cannot render the 16bit colors existing inside the OpenEXR format.

I don't think Corel will spend time and men for such development.

The OpenEXR format was developed for film motion and digital images. If I am right, no photo camera can produce such file format.

An OpenEXR plugin was developed but is limited to some software. The developer of the plugin should develop a better version with compatibility for more software.

Yeah the EXR format is only intended for Professional work. Why would Paintshop PRO ever support it. The need to work with EXR files is the one thing that keeps me paying the Adobe tax.
