template defaults to frame based

Post by me3 »

I'm using the HQ 4:3 template in VS11+ but noticed it's defaulting to frame based. My clips are mpeg's BFF. Shouldn't this template be switched to bottom field first?

My guess is that it' set to the frame-based default in case the user doesn't know if it's bff or tff. I've always just dropped compliant video into VS and have never experienced it's encoding.

Hi

Not sure I understand where you are using the HQ template.
I do not have VS 11 but other versions used this during either the capture process or the burn process

Share Create Disc
If you have a compliant Mpeg2 file then the option to Share Create Video File -Same as First Video would create the final video, burning this file to dvd would not render again, so the templates used in Project Settings would not be required.
If you do need to render (convert Mpeg files) then the default templates may not be suitable for you, in which case use the "custom" option to create your own.

But yes you are correct that the template uses Frame Based, at least VS 10 does, strange..........
and again not required if you use a compliant Mpeg file.
