Hi, since the last update for Paintshop Pro X4, I can't add a new layer form the layers palette and I cant edit the text color at all. I can change the color in the palette but it will not change in the text at all. Is it me or is it a bug?
Cheers
Gill

Is your Layers Palette docked? THe buttons there won't work if it is nor docked.
Have you highlighted your words when you want to change colour? This must be done before you change the colour.
I don't use the buttons for making a new layer, instead have customised it as in X2 / X3 where right click on any layer gives all those choices that you have in the Layers Menu bar area. More efficient for me , as don't have to leave the layer and go down to hit the right button to get a mask or new layer or adjustment layer. Just right click and all the choices are there.

How do you customize it so a right click on a layer gives you additional choices? I only get a couple of choices like duplicate layer etc.

Re: Can't edit text color and can't add new layer .
When you right-click on something it gives you a context menu. Menus can be edited from the Customize dialog under the "menu" tab.
Under the menu tab you'll see an area dedicated to "Context menus". In the drop down you'll see a list of available context menus to edit. There are four dedicated to the Layers Palette depending on the type of layer you're clicking on. Select the context menu you want to edit and it'll pop right up.
You can then go back to the commands tab on the customize dialog and start dragging and dropping commands over to the context menu.

Gill if everything else failed, you can reset the software. You can do that by pressing and holding down the SHIFT key then double-click on the PSP icon then when you received the message "DO YOU WAN TO RESTORE PAINTSHOP Pro TO ITS DEFAULT STATE?" just click OK.
