I am encoding a file as Mpeg audio and Video. In the same PC I have x4. I can read, edit and share these files with no trouble. When I put them through the MPEG Optimizer and export them to a thumbdrive and attempt to open them in Vegas 10 it won't work. So, I tried to drop it into another PC running VS11. I get file mis-match error. The file will open in Media player.
The video properties of the resulting Mpg. are
720 x 480
Data rate: 8000kbps
Total Bit rate: 9536kbps
29 frames/sec
I have viewed most of the other posts with the same key words as my title and not found any answer that matched my problem
File format Mis Match

Re: File format Mis Match
I believe the optimizer is intended more for High Definition video. So what is your original video. And what are you wanting to do/make with it?
If you are intending to make a standard def DVD, have you tried simply choosing Share > Create Video File > DVD? That will give you similar properties to what you have listed above and will be DVD-compatible. It should definitely open in both Vegas and VS11. But then again, I can't understand why the file you have already made won't open in them. What audio format did you choose?

Re: File format Mis Match
I am so used to using Optimizer in VS11 to "finish" projects edited in the time line that I never questioned its actual purpose. I've just always used it, and never with HD in mind. I did try the DVD option you suggested and found that file would not work either. We produced another program using this encoder (it is located in a mobile truck ) and I burned a data disk right from the file the encoder made and it will work in Vegas and VS11 except now I have a "jumpy" frame problem. every 5-9 seconds the video (possibly audio) skips. This is not a Corel problem but an encoder problem. However, it could be why this file when processed through X4 will then not play properly - a gigo issue (garbage in garbage out.)
I have more testing to do. In the meantime I need to see if the problems are related or independent.
