Missing Slideshow Transition Effects

Post by jrryan »

When I upgraded to MF4 I expected to find all of the functionality in MF3 SE. I really liked the Slideshow Transition Effects in MF3 SE, particulary the Random one. All you get in MF4 are about a half dozen boring effects. How do I get the others?

make sure you have downloaded the extra contents if you purchased the ESD version. Boxed/Retail copies includes all the effects/templates on the installation disc.

Thanks!

I've just downloaded the Trial version of MF4, and I'm having problems with the slideshow transitions as well. I see that you guys were talking about the registered version so I wonder if that is what's making the difference......

Anyway, here's what's happening:

In my slideshow, I clicked on the Transition Effect button. In the dropdown box, it said 1. Build, and I had the seven Build transitions to choose from. So far, so good. The problem is that when I drop the box down, 1. Build is the only thing in it!

So, I did a little rooting around in the MF4 program folders, and found what looks like the transition effects in C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead DVD MovieFactory 4.0 Disc Creator TBYB\Ulead DVD MovieFactory 4.0\Content\Transition Effect. There are seven sub-folders there, called Build, Clock1, FX, Mix, Push, Slide, and Wipe. Each one of those folders has two files:

- name.ini (where 'name' is the name of the folder... build.ini, for example)
- and index.rci

Both files are simple text files, so I hunted around in them, and it looks like the Fade transition is in the FX folder. Here's what's in 'em:
buld.ini:
[Display]
Name = 3.F/X
index.rci
[IIO Type Name]
Count=32
[IIO Item Name]
Count=8
Item1=None
Item2=Dissolve
Item3=Fade in/out
Item4=Fly (Right to left)
Item5=Fly (Left to right)
Item6=Mosaic
Item7=Mask 1
Item8=Mask 2
There is also a third file in the Bulid folder, called index.smp, which is hex rather than text, so I have no idea what's in there...

So, it looks like there ought to be more choices in that dropdown box, but maybe they're not enabled in the Trial version? Heh, after all that detective work, I'm gonna be mighty disappointed if someone comes in here and tells me that.....

i think I know what the problem is. I've heard manu problems about the TBYB version. I think you need to contact technical support email for this problem.

Thanks for the quick reply ploggy. I think tech support is only for registered users though.... Anyone know if that's correct?

BTW, what is TBYB? Is there a version of MF4 that's not TYBYB?

yes its for registered users only.

i didnt notice the first line on your post (trial). There are registered versions that came from TBYB (activated thru key code) and that version is what Im referring to in my previous post.

anyway, if you want to purchase the software, dont buy the TBYB key code. instead, go to their Ulead mall and but the full or upgrade version.
