Hi, I'm using the 30-day trial version of Corel Videostudio Pro X5.
The problem is that all the videos (all files are MPEG-4) I add to the library are muted, I can't hear anything from the audio when I play it. It's the same problem when I add the clip to the timeline, it shows that the clip is normal & the audio should be fine but nothing can be heard. I've tried purposely muting it & then unmuting, I've also tried splitting audio, I've tried all possible audio settings I've found in the program but everything I've tried has no effect. I've checked a million times that the audio on my computer is on, & the videofiles play normally with perfect audio on every media player I have, but I can't hear anything in the editing software.
Is there a setting that makes the files automatically mute & I haven't noticed it, or doesn't Corel Videostudio just support MPEG-4, or is this like a weird glitch in the trial version?
Thanks a lot!
Videos automatically muted?

Have you tried some other format files?

Re: Videos automatically muted?
Can you right click on one of the files, either in the VS timeline or library window, and copy all its properties -- and especially its audio properties -- here please. That way we will have a better idea of exactly what we are dealing with. Can you also tell us where the video came from. I ask because we had a similar problem last year -- though admittedly with .mov video. But there the problem seemed to be the GHz of the audio and its bitrate -- see http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... 04#p229804

Re: Videos automatically muted?
I did right after I posted, audio on wmv & mov works fine, only MPEG-4 mutes itself.canuck wrote:Have you tried some other format files?
Is there audio on any of the sample clips in the software, because I tried all of those & there was no audio on single one of them eighter? Of course if there is supposed to be no audio on any of them to begin with there's nothing wrong with them..

Re: Videos automatically muted?
No -- there's no audio on those sample clips!!
But it really would be helpful if you gave us the properties of your files as I requested above...

Re: Videos automatically muted?
If the problem only happens to MPEG-4 and mutes itself, this can be a codec issue, though it will still be helpful to provide the properties of the video files that are muted, since this will help us isolate the issue.
As for the codec, Here are some of the codecs that you may want to install.
RealPlayer: http://www.real.com/
DivX: http://www.divx.com/en/software/divx-plus/codec-pack
XviD: http://downloads.xvid.org/downloads/xvidcore-1.3.2.zip
Windows Media Player: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/wind ... dia-player or just download the Windows Encoder at http://www.microsoft.com/expression/pro ... rview.aspx
QuickTime: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
Direct X: http://on-msn.com/aLrk0j (WinXP)
Direct X: http://www.microsoft.com/Windows/window ... tx-11.aspx
You can also try resetting the software by following these steps. In order to reset VideoStudio Pro x5 back to the factory default settings you will need to rename or remove a specific folder under your user profile folder.
Before peforming this procedure, please ensure that VideoStudio Pro x5 is not running.
Be aware this will reset your library and you may need to reimport your videos once completed.
Windows Vista/7
Click on Start.
Click in the search box at the bottom of the Start menu .
Type in: %appdata% and hit enter.
In the window that opens, find the Ulead Systems Folder.
Open the Ulead Systems folder.
Open the Corel VideoStudio Pro folder.
There should be a 154.0 folder listed here. If you have older versions you might have a 13.0, or 12.0 etc.
Rename 15.0 to 15.0_old.
Open VideoStudio.[/list]
Windows XP
Click on Start.
Select Run.
In the Run box type: %appdata% and click ok.
