No Audio on VCD
I have captured video from a Sony MiniDV Recorder to PC with Video Studio 8 and can see/hear everything OK. Have edited the movie and saved the project and created a movie and then used Video Studio to burn it to VCD.
At every stage (including after creating a movie) on the PC I can hear the audio fine but when trying to play the VCD on a stand alone DVD Player, there is no Audio. The VCD will play OK and has audio if I play it on a PC.
I have captured from the MiniDv recorder in DV format and tried various formats when creating the movie and burning the VCD.
Any ideas?
I am new to this and am happy to be pointed at a tutorial or help guide if needed.
Thanks.

Re: No Audio on VCD
Hi Brian,
I have tried (I think) just about all formats.
Have tried burning to VCD, SVCD and DVD formats (I don't have a DVD burner, just CD-R/RW). I get the same in all cases except DVD. In that case, I do get audio but it's garbled.
Have also tried changing the audio formats when burning to MPEG (1 & 2), PCM and others and altering bitrates but with the same results. the resulting VCD/SVCD or DVD work fine on a PC, it's only trying to play back on the domestic DVD player that I have the problem.
I have also tried re-capturing with different formats (DV, DVD, VCD, SVCD etc) with diferent audio capture formats but no diference.
I have not done anything to alter the audio track as it that plays fine in video studio when editing. That track is in the same stream as the video (is that correct?) and plays fine.
The only diference I notice is that when I burn to DVD format, during the generate video file VS runs a "mutliplexing audio & video", which is NOT present during the burn to any other format. In that case, I get (at least) garbled audio on the final CD.
The PC is 3Ghz P4 + 1GB RAM + 220Gb HD (100Gb free) running XP SP2 with all latest patches. NVidia 64B Video card, firewire, have updated all drivers and direct x to latest versions. Audio driver is Realtec AC97.
I am sure it's something I am missing or doing incorrectly but am stumped.
Your help appreciated.

PAL - yes I am making sure all burns/files are PAL format (although supposedly the DVD player supports both). Not sure how to provide you with the file burn formats..... here is the info in project properties. Is this the info you wanted?
PAL (25 fps)
MPEG files
24 Bits, 720 x 576, 25 fps
Lower Field First
(DVD-PAL), 4:3
Video data rate: 6000 kbps
LPCM Audio, 48 KHz, Stereo
Have tried several other options including MPEG for audio instead of LPCM and DV-AVI, DVD, VCD and SVCD for video. Have tried choosing diferent tempaltes and editing template properties to adjust these settings.

Hi
The settings you show above appear to be for creating Dvd discs.
I am not sure what would happen if you used these settings to make a Vcd.
As you only have a Cd burner try the following.
Try my quick guide, from the useful links below.
Capture to Dv-Avi
In the second part, create video file
For Dvd Pal read Vcd Pal.
For Mpeg 2 read Mpeg 1
In the third part, Burn a Dvd (read Burn Vcd)
For Mpeg 2 read Mpeg 1. in all cases
Hope this helps
