Viveza fine in PS and AfterShot Pro, but PROBLEM with PSPX4

Post by nyukuri »

Hello,

I bought Viveza 2 and after the first installation it worked fine with PSPX4. Now I had to reinstall it and since then it shows very desaturated images in its interface, the output though is fine. But because I don't see in Viveza HOW the output will look like, effective working with it became impossible!
Now the funny thing is, that Viveza does NOT have this problem with Photoshop C6 (Testversion so far). I also use Viveza like a stand alone and for Batch Output in AfterShot Pro - again, NO problems there. All Software is on the same Computer.

So it seems it's an issue of PaintShop Pro X4. I thought it may be a different color management, but I use only sRGB in all programs. Viveza itself doesn't even allow me changing anything there.

I would really appreciate any help as how to use Viveza 2 effectively with my PSP X4!!!

Cheers,
nyukuri

Since PSP X4 and Viveza 2 was working properly before, the problem may have been caused by the reinstallation. If you did not reinstall PSP X4 and only Viveza 2. You may want to reset PSP X4, just to reset all of its settings. You can do that by pressing and holding down the SHIFT key then double-click on the PSP icon then when you received the message "DO YOU WAN TO RESTORE PAINTSHOP Pro TO ITS DEFAULT STATE?" just click OK.

Thank you!
I tried it, but problem remains :(

Also I forgot to mention in the first msg, that I installed Service Pack 1 and later Service Pack 2... the problem may be due to this. I cannot exactly say if it is since the new installation of Viveza or the installation of the service pack...

Well I just tried Viveza2 in my fully updated PSPX4 and it has the same washed out look. To be fair to NIK, they don't say their products work with PSP and won't really support them if you call and ask them for help (call with a different program and they'll talk with you for an hour!) I bought another program mainly to run the two sets of filters (Topaz and NIK) I have without problem. The "other" program works for that and has a few nice features besides.... like built in panorama and a few very smart tools. I kind of gave up on getting the NIK plugs to work in PSP. Some people report that they can get the NIK plug ins to work, but that appears to be pretty hit and miss. Good luck.
Adverts for Corel products when you close PSP don't bother me.

Hi, I played around a lot with Viveza; I let PSP have different color working spaces (proPhoto, AdobeRGB, sRGB, wide Gamut)
With every color profile the image looks then in Viveza a bit different. INterestingly, the Loupe preview in the bottom right corner of viveza often (not always!) shows the RIGHT colors in right saturation!!! so it looks like a BUG of Viveza since it shows different versions in the main view and the loup...
on the other hand this does not explain why it works fine in PS... So I am not really more enlightened as before :(

After years of frustration, I recently found a way to get images in Viveza 2 to display their actual saturation. Set the screen magnification to 33% (use the [+] and [-] toggles to set it). Once you get it at 33% you'll see the opposite happen - the main screen shows the correct saturation while the Navigator screen becomes desaturated. I have tried this successfully on both my desktop and laptop and thank goodness it's finally fixed. Hope this works for you too!

Just ran across this thread, and it works as you say with X7, WIN 8.1 32 bit. And when I set it to 33% that setting seems to stick for future use. Unfortunately, the problem then is that with large images you're only seeing a portion of the image. I don't suppose you know of a way to make the viveza plugin show full screen to at least increase the real estate?

EDIT UPDATE: I just learned how to increase the size of the Viveza plugin when you open it in X7 on a Windows machine. The "F" key toggles full screen on and off without changing the size of the X7 program. However, if you've done anything in the Viveza window (even just a click) you first have to click on the top Viveza title bar to give it focus before the F key works. For all I know (I haven't tested it), this might work with SOME other plugins also. Hope this helps.

Thanks for this information/solution. Keeping the image at 33% in Viveza 2 works perfectly PSPX6/X7 64bit. So far, Viveza 2 and Define 2 works. I even had Silver Efex Pro 2 working, once, but now it just crashes PSPX6/X7 64bit.

I did email Corel about why some of Nik/Google products won't work, and was told to contact Nik. I did, and the reply was Corel had to do something about it. Versions 1 worked with other 32bit photo editors, and luckily I do still have them, but that means if I have to bounce between PSPX 64bit and 32bit.

EDIT: So far, Viveza 2, Silver Efex Pro 2, ColorEfex 4, and Analog Efex Pro work in PSPX8 64bit. Still have to make sure that you view image in Viveza at 33%, but that's the only qualifier.
