SP2. Stated RAW Support Not Working (Canon S100)
X4 SP2 is supposed to add RAW support for the Canon S100 and Panasonic FZ150 cameras (I own both.) However, after installing SP2 neither of these RAW file formats can be edited. I tried dumping the Temp folder, but no joy. I tried calling Tech. Support and all I get is "Tech Support is not Available at this time." In the middle of the work day?! The About popup says I'm running Ver. 14.2.0.1. I'm not sure the update has taken. Anyone having the same problem?

Version 14.2.0.1 is what I show after SP2. SP1 was 14.1.0.5.
If you're on facebook you can contact support there. That seems to be the most responsive place yet.

Re: SP2. Stated RAW Support Not Working (Canon S100)
Update: I sent a support question to Corel via the website and they responded promptly with a request to send them sample files. I did so and a tech support person called me the next day - today - to say that he could confirm that the Canon S100 RAW files were not working in SP2. He thought the Panasonic files were working but I'm not convinced; they look bad in X4 but okay in AfterShop Pro, FastStone, Picasa 3 and Helicon Filter 5. I sent some additional files to Corel (via Google Docs) for them to peruse. What I don't understand is why they don't test RAW files before issuing an update/Service Pack. ???

I have the same problem, and not just with PSP X4. I wish there was a list of all photo editing programs that showed which cameras are supported. Canon USA is uninterested in this which I find very unprofessional.

Re: SP2. Stated RAW Support Not Working (Canon S100)
I got another email today from Corel Tech support saying that the engineers were working on the problem.
Canon has their own RAW processor - DPP - so I doubt they will be interested in what other developers are doing, though maybe they should be.

Re: SP2. Stated RAW Support Not Working (Canon S100)
Why any decent photo editor would not support one of the best small cameras available is beyond belief. The same could be said for Canon not pushing for universal software support. Hasn't anybody told them they are mutually dependent? I had intended to buy Aftershot Pro but my trial ran out just before I got the S100 and even though it does the cr2s from my Canon T2i just fine I do not have faith in Corel sufficient to risk spending money on a product that doesn't fulfill my needs as a photographer. As for Corel tech support, well, I am glad somebody can talk to them, I sure can't.jpmccormac wrote:I got another email today from Corel Tech support saying that the engineers were working on the problem.

I had to vote with my pocketbook, I bought Lightroom 4 instead of Aftershot Pro in order to use my Canon S100.

Corel "tech support" is a joke. If the program works then it works wonderfully. If there's a problem, chances are you're just stuck with it. I've never had "tech support" actually resolve an issue for me. For them it's just a waiting game. If they stall you long enough they'll release yet another version of whatever software you have that's the real problem and you should try the next version, even if the problem code is the exact same between your current version and the next version.

Hi to all who own a Canon S100
Indeed we noticed that the filter isn't working and have escalated this.
Sorry.

Re: SP2. Stated RAW Support Not Working (Canon S100)
PSP X4 with SP2
Canon S100 RAW images (CR2) appear as a "colorized" pink. Completely useless and uneditable.
RAW images from my Lumix FZ150 (RW2) appear washed out with the colour settings way out and uncorrectable.
This is pretty sad as even the free application Irfanview will display them both correctly (and save them as JPG). I have been a PSP user for years and am very disappointed that after finally deciding to shoot RAW I discover PSP will not do the job I expect and paid for.

Corel is aware of this - and has been for some months. Don't hold your breath for an update. For RAW processing I prefer AfterShot Pro anyway.

Re: SP2. Stated RAW Support Not Working (Canon S100)
Canon S100 and Lumix FZ150 RAW files now appear to be loading correctly in PSP4. I was told to download the latest version, uninstall and reinstall. The interesting thing is that not only is the current installer different from the original, but the SP2 is also different. Presumably instead of issuing a patch or new SP they simply update the existing one. BTW you don't have to install SP1 with the latest version, just SP2. I shall now delete my originals and replace them with the current versions.

Thanks for the update. I never got any response from Corel about the availability of SP 2. It does seem to work now.

Re: SP2. Stated RAW Support Not Working (Canon S100)
I'm not sure I understand the process. I am supposed to uninstall my existing program and then download the same one and reenter my license? I already have service pack 2 (14.2.0.1) I have found workarounds and I must stress that I like PSP x4 otherwise but it would be nice to just do things (especially just look at thumbs in one program.
