PSP X3 and X4 crashes when starting up

Post by MatsW »

PSP X3 crashes when starting up in WinXP Pro. It crashes at "Activating tracker", or something. PSP8 also crashes. I removed PSPX3 and installed it again. The same thing happened. So I downloaded PSPX4. The same thing happened. Other programs, like Panter 12, still function.

I am helpless. A file seems to be corrupt on my system, that is used by PSP since PSP8. Any ideas?

Uninstall both, do some cleenup of directories. Restart PC. Install X3 OR X4 first + all updates. Test.

Sometimes some programs or their updates corrupt something in PSP. This will fix it.

Thanks. Anyway, I fixed it. I had installed an old pen tablet and downloaded the driver for WinXp. However, PSP didn't like the driver, obviously. After removing the driver, PSP starts again. (What a relief! I am helpless without PSP.)

For your information, the driver that crashes PSP, from PSP8 onwards, on a WinXP Pro computer, is "USB Tablet Driver for Acecat Flair USB, Acecat 302, Flair II GT-504, Flair II GT-302" (Windows 98/2000/XP).
