Pro X5 scrolling title question

Post by cdoughertycd »

Hi: I am using the scrolling (rolling) title for end credits. I would like it to stop at the last text so the text remains in the middle of the screen like they do in the movies where the credits end with maybe the production company. Is there any way to stop the scroll rather than have it roll on up and off.

Thanks,
Candy

Hi Candy

I assume you have several lines of text, the last line should stop on screen.

You should create two Titles, the second containing the last line of text.
Then create a fade out for the last line.

Track manager will allow you to add another Title track to the timelines.

Trevor, thanks, I'll play with it. Yes, I do have many lines of credits that scroll up. This is an opera so my credits are full of cast and orchestra etc.

Now I have another question that just occurred. I had to make a second scrolling credit due to I wanted the lines of text to be center justified versus left of the first credit. This 2nd credit now scolls wavy, not smooth, the letters kind of wave up and down, annoying. Any ideas what would have caused that. The first credit left justified does not have that problem. I did slow the scroll down on the 2nd title so I could have it end at the same point with music, could that be why?

Thanks again,
Candy

Hi Candy

Very difficult to say what is going wrong with the text without actually seeing it.

Can you email the VSP to me, I will not be able to see any clips but will be able to see the titles.
I can have a look and see if I can find any problems.

You could of course create a new project only containing titles / text.
Drag the text clips to the library to make a copy.
Start a new project and drag the title clips back, save and e-mail the VSP.

You will find an e-mail address from the Quick Guide link below.

Hi
Thanks for the sample VSP.
I rendered to Mpeg and Dv-avi i understand what you mean regarding "the letters kind of wave up and down" however i see it on the first title more than the second. Both types.
I think it may be an interlacing issue, i rendered using DV-Avi Frame Based and the results were much more stable.
I then rendered the DV-Avi file to mpeg2 Ntsc Upper Field the results were looking good. I assume your video uses upper field???

I have returned the VSP with the animation edited to pause the last line as your first post. Edit the project properties to use Frame Based, then Share Create Video File Same as Project properties. Will create the Dv-Avi

Can you tell us what you are intending to make, a Standard DVD or HD DVD We can then suggest render settings to convert the text.
