Sync problems with video matching audio with Mini MV in VS9.

I followed the instructions in "Recommended Procedures" for this problem, but when I change the capture device to Mini MV I lose the ability to change any capture properties. My audio is behind about 4 seconds to my video, even after I create a video file. What can I do to eliminate this lag time?
