VS X4 thumbnails won't load

VS X4 thumbnails won't load
I can't put video thumbnails into the library. I had deleted previous projects from the library and now the library won't accept anything - even new captures. I can add titles-just not anything into "samples".

Do you have the type of item you're trying to add deactivated in the library? The filmstrip icon, picture icon, and music note icon towards the top of the library, are they gray or gold?

I guess that somehow they were turned off-didn't know one could do that.
