Hi all

The service Pack does not work on my installation?
Version.JPG
I hav a 64bit Windows 7 installation. After starting the patch everything seems to be fine until the last dialog.
Problem.JPG
The dialog says. The installed version of the application is not recognized. The setup will be closed...

So any idea?

Thanks in advanced

Very strange because the build number on your splash screen suggests that service Pack 1 is already installed - are you sure it did not update automatically - and now you are trying to duplicate the install by doing it manually

Hi Brian

This might be indeed the reason. It is possible that I installed automatically the service pack. Last week I had a problem with mov files and I searched for solutions. Then I saw the facts for the patch. So if this is the build version of a patched version than everything is fine.

Thanks again for the fast response.

there is a setting in the Corel Guide >> Cog wheels >> message preferences which allows for new updates to be installed automatically - if you have that checked then the update could have been installed without your knowledge.

I finally managed to install SP1 to my X5 install. It would not update while X5 was running, so had to cancel X5 starting up at the splash screen (behind was the message for SP1). then let SP1 install itself. Now all is upto date.

Only issue I have with X5 is that it crashes everytime I choose Share/DVD - works okay on Share/File. Have this in hand with Coral.

Are we ever going to see an announcement that says: "VideoStudio Pro X5 Service pack 2 Available"?
It's been 4 months since the last one, and during that time there has been hundreds of issues reported by users pertaining to VideoStudio Pro X5 -- even after SP-2 was released. And, that isn't counting the hundreds more suggestions by users for Wishlist for VideoStudio Pro X6 -- if and when it will ever be released!

Why are there no frequent patches being released on a regular basis? There are many problems that need to be fixed, and user-suggestions from the "WishList for X6" (some of which) could/should be incorporated into the current version (X5). Yet, Corel keeps selling the product while ignoring a certain responsibilty to people who expect a product to perform better than it does currently. Only 1 ServicePack has ever been released for X5. Why?

i am afraid you are asking those questions in the wrong place - we do not have any contact with the Corel product development staff and we have no idea when - or even if - a further update pack will be released - we receive no advance information regarding service pack or even full version releases.

From past experience a new version of VideoStudio is released approximately annually - it is unusual to have more than 2 service packs released in that time.

While I agree that it would be nice to have features in a "free" fix, I doubt it. When you buy the program, you know what you are getting. To "wish" for more is fine, but I don't think you are going to get it for free.
Bug fixes are another issue though...

Brian: I think I have the same issue as Holger. I did the ProX5 service pack update and got this message "The installed version of this application could not be determine, the setup will now terminate". I went to the guide and the preferences and I have automatic updates checked and it says it will notify me before downloading, but I don't remember the notification, but it could be that I'm just not remembering it when I said yes to do it. Does this mean the service pack has been downloaded?

thanks

If your build number now reports as 15.1.0.34 then you do now have service pack one installed.

Downloaded the SP1 form Coral okay, then when I ran the .exe file to update my VS X5 it crashed my machine. restarted to see what happened my VS X5 was no longer on the machine (all in the recycle box!!). not sure how this happened. Now to re-install X5 from scratch. will try again or maybe install it on my other box which has a larger hard drive (2T) and more memory (plus a quad processor). Maybe X5 doesn't like a duel processor? Has worked so far.
