Cannot save as JPEG

Post by claudermilk »

I am running into an issue trying to complete processing of some images. I have converted a Canon CR2 raw file to TIFF, then opened into PSP X4. Now I wish to save as a JPG file. I've flattened & converted to 8-bit RGB. When I go to save it pops up an error stating: "An error has occurred while trying to write to the file". I can save the TIFFs, I can save to PNG, PSP, BMP, and presumably everything else. All except JPG--which is of course what is required. I can create an image from scratch and save to JPG. I've tried simply copying the image and pasting to a new image, then saving with the same error. Same with opening the PSP image back up & trying to save as JPG. I am updated to the latest patch just released.

Has anyone run into this & found a resolution?

I have tried to duplicate your procedure. I used Canon Digital Photo Professional to convert and save a raw CR2 image to a TIFF.
Then loaded it into PSPX4. Image--> Decrease Color Depth--> RGB 8 bits / channel. Then saved with no problems.

I also tried to save directly from TIFF to jpg and received the warning message "Because of the requirements of the specified format ....Would you like to continue?" and clicked Yes and save occurred OK.

Are you using Lightroom to produce your TIFFs. I have heard that there is a problem / conflict between Lightroom and PSPX4 .

There was an old thread similar to this http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... 1&p=244979 unfortunately there was no real resolve to the issue.
Are you doing the conversion with LightRoom or another Adobe product?

Nope, no Adobe. I am converting using DxO Optics Pro 7.5.

When you go to the FILE > SAVE AS.. can you try and add the suffix ".jpg" to the filename and see if this works for you.

Nope. I did some more poking and it seems that the problem is with TIFF files generated by DxO Optics Pro 7.5. I can save any other file except those. Even JPGs and DNGs generated by DxO.
