Hi

When I play in project playback the video is smooth, when in clip mode the video stutters, very poor, usually that would be the other way round. Smart Proxy is enabled.
I am using X5

I have used my Canon 7D to record a few samples, all show some problem with either duplicated frames or dropped frames, and that's the same for 23.9 and 25fps. (i am pal)
I am only glad that I only use the camera for still photography and not movie mode.

When i play using VCL Player it looks reasonable, playing with Quicktime it looks bad. go figure.

Just converted to TS files Mpeg2, much better in Video Studio.

Tried your clip in VS X5 as well as 2 other NLEs and all three played fine. There was a little blurring with one of the NLEs but that was all. Ran it on 2 computers one with Nvidia Card and the other had an ATI.

I guess I'm totally on my own here. The tech support guy was totally just interested in what settings to use to render the final output, but my problem is that I can't see anything that I'm doing to get to a point to render anything. It was like I took my car into a mechanic that was belching smoke and he was more interested in how the radio worked.

Latest findings. I put together a video that lasts about a minute. This produces about a million page faults according to Task Manager. And that's not an exaggeration, literally over 1,000,000 page faults for a minutes worth of a video previewing. Just firing VS up creates over 300,000 page faults. This can't be normal.

Of course it's not normal. I would guess you have some major problems with your system!

Well, as Video Studio is the only program that has this problem and the system being just under a year old, under a fresh OS reinstall, I'd say that Corel is just hoping I go away. I'll probably just buy Adobe Premier Elements as the trial for that worked just fine (as do all other programs on my system).

Hi

I do not know about Page Faults, where on Task Manager do you find this info?
I am using XP so maybe its a Windows 7 option?

Dan...do you have access to another PC that you can use to test out these video files.
If the page faults are caused by VS and the type of video files used then you will see similar problems.

Much as I like VS, I'd say it's a compatibility problem with your pc and VS and the video files.
I'd also suggest giving up on VS, using adobe rpemiere elements which works for you and get on with some editing and stop wasting time trying to solve a problem that already has a way of being overcome.
