I downloaded the offline help file for Paint Shop Pro X4 and am trying to install it:
Corel_PSPX4_LocalHelp.exe
I execute the file and it says " no update of your software is required at this time "
I'm not quite sure what the issue is.
Was hoping someone could help me.
Thanks

I have never known anyone to be able to get that working. But so long as you have SP1 or SP2 you should have the offline help files also.

Re: Error when trying to install 119mb offline help file for
I'm so disappointed. I want to take some time as a passenger on a trip and won't have any internet access for most of the journey. Just my laptop.
It will be the perfect time to learn about all the changes.
If there is anybody that can help me get some sort of offline help for this thing, I'd be grateful.
I can hardly believe that Corel does not provide offline help automatically on the install disc.
I'm baffled and bummed.
Thanks for answering. I hope to get some sort of solution figured out.

You can download a PDF version of the User Guide here: User Guide Download
But I don't know how complete it is by comparison. It could be the full thing, or a stripped down version.
Like I said, if you install Service Packs 1 or 2 you should have the offline help files if you don't already. Is there a reason you can't install one of them? Or do you already have them and it doesn't seem to allow you to access the help files?
Do me a favor, check your Program File folder for the help files. If you don't natively use EN as your language the exact location might be slightly different but for the most part it's the same.
32-bit: C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel PaintShop Pro X4\Languages\EN\Help\
64-bit: C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel PaintShop Pro X4\Languages\EN\Help\
If there are files there then you have the offline help files.
Of course, the offline files don't seem to work correctly in any browser except for IE for some reason. At least they don't on my computer.
The main page for the help files is located here
32-bit C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel PaintShop Pro X4\Languages\EN\Help\wwhelp\wwhimpl\js\html
64-bit: C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel PaintShop Pro X4\Languages\EN\Help\wwhelp\wwhimpl\js\html

Bingo. Both installed but it does not seem to allow access from within the program.LeviFiction wrote:Like I said, if you install Service Packs 1 or 2 you should have the offline help files if you don't already. Son of a gun - they are right there. Wacky. I wasn't aware that the help files were in either of / both of the service packs. Good thing to know.LeviFiction wrote:Do me a favor, check your Program File folder for the help files. They do appear in Firefox 3.6.28 but are not formatted quite properly. Look proper in IE 8 though. I'll just add that path onto the end of an IE8 shortcut and it should come up fine. My default browser is Firefox. For whatever reason the PSP X4 program won't default to offline mode even when no internet is available to the system. But with the help you have given me, I should be able to muddle through just fine.LeviFiction wrote:Of course, the offline files don't seem to work correctly in any browser except for IE for some reason. Thanks very much for helping - it's much appreciated.
