[Bug/Feature] Lens Correction copy - non auto lenses

Post by ferdinand-paris »

In the tips and tricks forum I've posted some lens calibration profiles for several NEX lenses. The problem with the NEX-7, and I suspect the other NEX cameras, is that the camera is not auto-detected, and so neither is the lens. Having looked at the EXIF, I think that this is because the model ID is in the maker notes rather than standard EXIF, although having said that, NN seems to work and other s/w that I use (e.g. BreezeBrowser) is able to to detect a model name without any problems, so perhaps this is an ASP bug. I'll report to the monkey.

No problems I thought. I'll create presets which paste in the model and lens, and I will be able to turn on auto-correction in batches, rather than image by image. Except that it doesn't work, or not that simply. if I simply paste in the model and lens and the on setting, the correction isn't applied. It seems that the only way that ASP can be forced to look to the lens correction tables to retrieve the (a,b,c) correction parameters is if I select the model and then the lens from the drop-down lists.

For primes there is a workaround, because the preset can include the (a,b,c) correction parameters in the "manual tab". But this doesn't work for zooms, because each focal length will have different (a,b,c), unless I create a preset for each focal length. So for an 18-55mm there would be 38 presets.

I'll report this to the monkey as well, but has anyone else experienced this obscure problem? Of course the best solution would be to correctly autodetect the model & lens, but if that can't easily be done, I need a better workaround.

I attempted to put my Lens Identification into my Default RAW file DefaultRawOLYMPUS_IMAGING_CORP__E_PM1.xmp and it doesn't load by default.

Code: Select all

        bopt:warpon="true"
        bopt:profilemake="Olympus Micro 4/3"
        bopt:profilemodel="E-PM1"
        bopt:profilelens="Micro 4/3 Zuiko Digital 14-42mm F3.5-5.6 ED"
        bopt:lens="Micro 4/3 Zuiko Digital 14-42mm F3.5-5.6 ED"
If I do a 'Ctrl+R' ASP then recognises the Lens.
