I purchased PSP X4 back in late November last year and have been unable to get it to run. I'm using an older AMD Sempron based system under XP Pro 32 bit -no, I'm not prepared to update hardware at this juncture- and after several messages exchanged with customer support and trying several of the usual suggestions to no avail, I was told the reason I cannot get it up and running was because of my AMD processor because there is a known bug using PSP X4 with AMD processors. Checking the systems various users on this forum detail, I do notice AMD processors in use, so I do somewhat question the validity of the blanket statement I received at the time. I'm back to using PSP X3 for the time being, but there are various features in X4 I'd like to be able to use.
I get the impression that since I do NOT have PSP X4 installed with SP1 that I should probably try again and skip SP1 and go straight to SP2. I've got nothing to loose except some time....
Has anyone else had issues using an older AMD processor with PSP X4?

Re: PSP X4 and AMD CPUs
Just went through the time and trouble of doing yet another install of the original program and then applying SP2, and again, it never loads, it crashes.....I know this is not the most expensive software out there, but am I being unreasonable expecting it to work when stated minimum system requirements are met?

My last computer was an underpowered AMD. Does your system meet the minimum requirements for PSP X4?
Never loading and crashing sounds more like your security software is stopping it from doing something. What security software do you have? Antivirus, Antimalware, Firewall, Sandboxer (if you don't know what that is you probably don't have one), etc...

Re: PSP X4 and AMD CPUs
I also question the validity of that broad of a blanket statement. I run PSP X4 on an AMD processor just fine. Admittedly, it's a current Phenom II hexa-core beast, but they get along perfectly well.
I presume the system requirements have been checked?

Thanks, Dan.
I use MSE and the Windoze firewall. PSP X3 runs just fine and I never had to make exceptions for it in either of the 2 utilities and do not use any others. And yes, as stated above, the minimum system requirements are met at the recommended level....

Re: PSP X4 and AMD CPUs
If you open your Task Manager (Ctrl Shift Esc on Win7 but if that doesn't work Ctrl Alt Del and choose task manager), try to reinstall and watch MsMpEng.exe. If that spikes CPU usage or runs on and on then there's your culprit. Turning off MSE to install should do the trick just for installation, then turn it back on and go about your business.

Re: PSP X4 and AMD CPUs
AFAIK, PSP x4 does not have any issue with AMD processor. If you're experiecing problem with PSP X4, I suggest that you apply or install both updates to make sure that your program is fully patched.
You can download both updates at http://www.corel.com/corel/pages/index. ... id=3000009
Additional steps that you can try are the following.
Update directX
Direct X: http://on-msn.com/aLrk0j (WinXP)
Direct X: http://www.microsoft.com/Windows/window ... tx-11.aspx
You can also try right-clicking the PSP X4 icon then RUN AS ADMIN.
Another steps that you can do is to install the program on a new Windows admin user. You can create a new windows admin user then login to that new user and install PSP X4. You can then test the program on the new user if the program is running or not.

Re: PSP X4 and AMD CPUs
I did the directX XP update, re-installed the program. It crashed first try. Installed SP1 and then SP2, crashed again on first try.
I went through this when first I received the program and went as far as doing a clean XP install, all to no avail. I saved the crash report txt files both pre and post SP installs. What should I look for in those?
