VideoStudio x5 rendering problems

Post by HogDustWillie »

I purchased this software yesterday, so I am new to this. I have been playing around making some changes to an existing video. When I try and render the completed file, it locks up at 97%. It does not matter what format I try saving it in, it still locks up. I have cut off firewalls and virus scanners, no change. I have reinstalled the software twice, no change.

I like the software and am getting the hang of it, but it does me no good if I cant use the videos I create. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forums! First, though, you will need to tell us what the properties are of the existing file you were editing. Right click on the clip either in the timeline or the library window, and copy ALL its properties here please.

And can you also described in a little more detail exactly how you went about rendering the new file...

ken,

Thank you. It will not allow me to copy and paste, so here goes:

File
file format: mpeg-4 file
file size: 66,948 kb
duration: 299.412 seconds

video
video type: H.264 Baseline Profile Video
total frames: 4,887 frames
attributes: 24 bits, 960x544
frame rate: 16.322 frames/sec
data rate: 1714 kbps

audio
audio type: mpeg aac audio
total samples: 13,205,504 samples
attributes: 44100 hz, 16 bit, stereo
bit rate: 96 kbps

Please take into consideration that I am a complete novice. The software opens fine, I can start projects, edit video just fine. i can create story board or timeline. And it looks like I can use all functions. But when the project is completed and i need to create the video, thats when the problems start. I assume to create the video I either create video file or upload to web. It does not matter which format I select al do the same thing. The rendering process gets to 96-97% and freezes. Corel at that point does not respond and must be shut down.

This morning I did get someone online before i got disconnected, they had me check video driver, update direct x, update divx, update quicktime, update real player.

Hi

Where did you get the video file from? Give as much info as possible.

The frame size of 960 x 544 is not standard
The frame rate of 16.322 frames /sec is very odd, 30 fps would be the norm
The data rate of 1714 kbps probably ok, but doesn't reflect quality.

I am not surprised that the editor is struggling.

Can you tell us what you are intending to make, maybe a video for the internet?

You may be best to convert the video to a more editable format.
There are video converters that can do the job, Super comes to mind.

Hi

What version of Video Studio are you using?

Are you able to make the file available for download, there are free share programs on the web.
One poster recently used http://www.upfordown.com/ seemed to work ok.
Then i can have a play with it?

As I said the properties look a little strange, do you have other recording options you can try?

Rendering / Converting the video

You say you have tried all options,
try Share Upload to web- You Tube HD 16~:9, this creates a Mpeg4 file, if it completes the render simply cancel the upload. Upload by logging on to YT in the normal manner
----------------------------
Try the Flash option, using X5 - Custom known as WebM files
Then choose options to set the render properties, sorry but this bit may be a bit techy
You can customise the frame size to match your video.

You do not need to convert your video files, since youtube practially supports all major file formats.

If you inadvertently use INSTANT PROJECT but not using it, you may want to try and remove INSTANT PROJECT.

I am using x5. I tried the upload to web option, same result. I'll have to find the WebM thingy and try it. I do have a dropbox account and I think it can do a video. Im putting it in a folder now. Open an account, its free and I will share the folder with you.

I did not use the instant project. I did however choose a beginning and an end with transitions that I was trying to add to the video.

Ok ... it is something with the original video or format or something. I just went into the project, deleted the video, replaced it with a different video clip from a different source, inserted it into the project where the last video was, rendered it to mpeg-4 hd, and it rendered fine, no lock up. So it must be with the video. Any Suggestions to get it to work?

Hi

Do you have a problem with all video from the cell phone, or is it just this particular clip.

You could try converting the video using another program, many on the forum use Super.
Their web pages are not the easiest to navigate and finding the actual Super download link is a little difficult, they want you to download anything but Super, think its on the bottom of third page.

First try Video Studio batch Convert option, at least the video is not in the timeline.

File-Batch Converting

This is the techy bit........

Add video
Save type as choose an option, Mpeg4 Files
Options--opens the Video Save Options
Compression tab--
Video Type--H264 Main
General tab
Frame Size--1280 x 720, thats 16:9 ratio
Frame rate 30fps
Frame type--Frame Based
Compression tab--
Video Data Rate 2000kbps

Ok try those settings, suitable for YouTube HD.

If Video Studio fails again, try Super using similar settings.
