WinDVD Pro11 activation and playing AVCHD

Post by Andy_W »

Hello,
i have installed the trial version and now is the question: if i buy it, how will the software activated? The PC where WinDVD is installed has no internet connection for safety reasons, there is a second old PC with linux for internet. So activation must be possible "offline", e.g. WinDVD says me a kind of serial number, i type this number online and receive an activation code wich i type in WinDVD. Also an activation via telephone may be O.K. There is no way to connect the PC where WinDVD is installed to internet. Is it possible for the boxed version, is it possible for thedownload version?

Next there are some questions i have using the trial version: if i will playback a DVD directory, it takes more than one minute until it starts, first time i thought WinDVD was hanging and have terminated it by task manager. If i burn my own Bluray discs using Magix with MPEG2 files, disc is playing, but it is not possible to burn a 1080p24 disc. If i burn a Bluray with AVCHD, disc will not be recognized, i get a message "media not supported". I can play the AVCHD file itself (also using 1080p24), if it is on harddisc, but not if it is on Bluray disc, i get the same message. So i have no control if menus of disc are operating correctly until i burn it and put it in a stand alone player (there it is working correctly).

I am wondering about this behavior because on the empty screen before playing videos ther is a big "AVCHD" together with other logos. So i think it should be possible to play a Bluray using AVCHD videos. They are videos made (e.g. made from povray raytracing pictures) from me in format 1920*1080 progressive 24Hz.

Best regards

Hello Andy,

WinDVD is available in box and download. You only need to activate the program if you ordered the download version. You will be given a serial number that you will use to activate the program. since the computer that you are using is not connected to the Internet, then you will need to do an offline activation that you can download by calling the Corel Support http://www.corel.com/corel/pages/index.jsp?pgid=800145.

If you ordered the box, then you do not need to activate the program, since the installation process of box editions are different from download editions.
