For Printing in PS I use the following settings:
Color Handling: PS Manages Colors and:
Printer Profile: Canon i9950 SP1.. or any other Canon preset Printer Profile.
How can I get this printer profile setting in ASP?
Thanks
Hans Meuter OutdoorPhotograph
So far I'm really exited with ASP. Very fast, very easy handling/

Re: PRINTER PROFILE
Create a new print queue or modify an existing one.
In there you will find a selection list for the color profile, click on browse to add your printer specific profile.
Note, all profile conversions in AS are perceptual.
You might also want to go into the preferences and add your printer profiles to the soft proofing list so that you can soft proof before printing (the little window in the print settings is not proofed, it is only used for layout checks).

Re: PRINTER PROFILE
Thanks, afx. Just couldn't find those Canon profiles because they come with different designations as shown in the PS profile list. Could manage it meanwhile.
Perceptional conversation should be good enough by printing from an ASUS PA238Q monitor with nearly 100% RGB colors.

Re: PRINTER PROFILE
I will extend the topic as I think that profiling in ASP is not working in "predictible" way or at least I don't understand it.
I profiled my printer and the profile works perfectly with photoshop on windows (where it was profiled) or with Gimp+turboprint under linux. The results are identical. Now I am trying to use this profile with ASP/bibble5+turboprint and I cannot acheive even close result with ASP+turboprint or Bible5+turboprint. As Bibble5 does not support linear output (I received such information on Bibble forum) I guess ASP also is not able to output Linear colors. So I set my ICC profile in print window in Bibble5/ASP and no color management in Turboprint. The result is completely wrong. What is more interesting printouts from ASP and from Bible5 are also different.
Can anyone advice the steps on how to setup printer profile in ASP/turboprint correctly. Also, what are the correct steps to profile the printer for ASP so that the profile will work in the configuration described above (ASP+turboprint).

You can not use AS for print profiling at all.rp9 wrote:I will extend the topic as I think that profiling in ASP is not working in "predictible" way or at least I don't understand it.
You can only print profiled, therefore you can not print profiling charts.
I already told you so in the Bibble forum. Can anyone advice the steps on how to setup printer profile in ASP/turboprint correctly. Also, what are the correct steps to profile the printer for ASP so that the profile will work in the configuration described above (ASP+turboprint).
Send ProPhoto to Turboprint and let Turboprint handle the printer profile.
Works like a charm and is the way Turboprint is intended to use according tho the TurboPrint developers.

Re: PRINTER PROFILE
I set the same printer profile in Print Settings of AS and PS as 'Output Color Space/Print Profile'. Also set PS to 'perceptual' and used of course the same printer.
I only can say the print from AS has not the details as the print from PS.
Blame myself in the first place because probably could not achieve the same excellent post processing I'm used to in PS.
Beside that I couldn't use the Adobe PSD file in AS. My next step will be to use a same TIF file and print from both As and PS>
Take care

Re: PRINTER PROFILE
What did you use for DPI?Khun Hans wrote:I set the same printer profile in Print Settings of AS and PS as 'Output Color Space/Print Profile'. Also set PS to 'perceptual' and used of course the same printer.

For a canon it should be 300 or 600, depending on the actual dpi the source image would deliver.
Use the next higher number (for an image that delivers 200dpi, use 300, for an image that delivers 400dpi natively, use 600).
And of course this assumes the same TIFF. If you go from raw, there are a bazillion other parameters that are involved in the image details before the printing module even comes into play.
Actually, I find printing in PS horrendously complicated, especially when one needs to upsample manually.Blame myself in the first place because probably could not achieve the same excellent post processing I'm used to in PS.
I prefer the ease of QImage.
Why bother? Printing is not a key strength of AS...Beside that I couldn't use the Adobe PSD file in AS. My next step will be to use a same TIF file and print from both As and PS

Re: PRINTER PROFILE
Of course i used in both cases 300dpi, du Schlauberger. It is native to print a A3 plus from my files without re-sizing.
Never heard about using the next higher number of DPI by re-sizing in order to get a decent print. But sure you know something new and different.
'Why bother? Printing is not a key strength of AS...' If you find PS 'horrendously complicated' shows me where you come from.
Answers like this one helps me to delete this cheap crap.
Oh.. wait .. I tried to print the same TIF files on both while the result was even worst.
