VS pro X5 install big time troubles
HI I am new here I am from Australia and pretty much computer illiterate so simple easy to follow step if you can help would be great thank you.
I will take you through the steps and try and give you as much information as I can.
Point 1.
I downloaded and installed the trial version of video-studio pro x5 . working great loved it was thinking about buying.
Point 2.
After using it for a few days I tried to open it up and all I got was the slash page ? ( think that is what the title page is called ) but that was all nothing else would open even after waiting a hour or so. I opened up task manger but it was not even showing up in the task.
I had to reboot my computer I ended up deleting the trial version I was going to buy it anyway so thought now is the time to do so.
Point2.Removed VS from my computer and went to Corel to buy a download version email came I hit the download button and tried to install it however it would not install
I tried a lot of things downloading it again still would not work. I contacted support after telling them the same I have here there reply was you have to activate your trial version and gave me the key ( I emailed them back and told them the same I have just put here ) still waiting for a reply.
This morning after one more try to download it and install started but I got this message
( he installation Wizard encounted a problem while trying to configure your software. /ciykd bit access file
c:/user/name/appdata/local/temp/2d8ce689-339c-4f3-8abc-37333dlf828ea/setup/setup.msi--the system
cannot find the path specified. would you like to continue ?
Yes no I said yes
Installationwizard not completed
you do not have sufficient privileges to complete this installation. This installation requires administrative or elevated privileges please contact your administrator and then retry this installation ) so I Google what this meant I found information that told me to do this
( Start button - Control panel - user accounts -user accounts - change account settings - never notify - but still after trying to install the same messages
some other messages Ive had while trying to install - windows vista service pack 2 ( I don't have vista and never had it on the computer ) I use windows 7
I have tried running Tune up utilities to try to clean up my computer but still wont install
This has been going on for days now and at the end of my very long stick of patients please help my compute information at the bottom please read
Asus laptop K53s windows 7 Firefox processor Intel(R) core(TM) i7-26700Q CPU @
Thank you in advance hope you can help.

Re: VS pro X5 install big time troubles
First, have a look at your Windows Task Manager > Services, and find ProtexisLicensing. Make sure it is running, then try installation again. Protexis is software used by Corel to ensure it is a valid installation...
Otherwise, if you still have the Trial version downloaded, install that again, and activate it with the key Corel sent you.

Re: VS pro X5 install big time troubles
When you un-install VideoStudio using Windows not all of the programme files are removed and it is quite likely that one of the files left is preventing the new install - so the best thing to do first is a full manual removal of all bits of X5 left on your computer - to do that carry out the procedure in this Corel article here :-
http://corel.force.com/index/articles/e ... 000000L3jx .
Once you have done all that download the trial version again and use the code you have been given to activate it - NOTE - there is NO DIFFERENCE between the trial version of X5 and the paid for downloaded file - if you activate the trial you have a full version - when you download the trial do not 'Run' on download or delete the TBYB.exe file - download it first then run it then keep it in case you need a re-install some time in the future.

You can also try installing the program by creating a new windows user account with admin rights, since program installed on admin users will also be available to other users.

Thank you for this advice sorry it has taken so long to reply but downloads take so long so did not know if it was going to work or not until after download.BrianCee wrote:When you un-install VideoStudio using Windows not all of the programme files are removed and it is quite likely that one of the files left is preventing the new install - so the best thing to do first is a full manual removal of all bits of X5 left on your computer - to do that carry out the procedure in this Corel article here :-

I did try this and was unsuccessful. Since I also got yet another reply from support they suggested me a few things and try downloading and using one of two programs the one I choose was GetRight but still no help I was hoping for an easy solution how ever not to be I guess.
I am now trying the other person suggestion and opened up a new user account as admin and trying again to download it downloads fine but it just wont install still getting the same message as I was before I did this suggestion thank you very much for your help

Re: VS pro X5 install big time troubles
Hi ToyTog
Sorry you have not had a recent response, Brian who did reply is on holiday/vacation but I am sure will reply shortly.
There was another user trying to install the program with similar problem, the splash screen freezes on start.
I am not sure if this poster cured the problem. Must search for that post.
When video studio first starts it creates a folder called en-US within the MY Documents structure.
We found that this folder was not created, at least not fully created.
He was also in contact with Corel Support.
I try and find the posts, hopefully he found a solution????????
By the way where do you live and did you install the program using the English version?
Ok i found the post

May be worth a read, at least you will see the things we tried.

Hi Toy Tog
A asked the question regarding language as Mad eira, the guy from the other post had a German version and wondered if it was language related. He had also been in contact with Corel Support.
I have e-mailed him to ask if he has been successful in running the program?

Re: VS pro X5 install big time troubles
Hi Toy Tog
To be honest I have no idea why the program wont launch. The other posted "Mad eira" tried everything as far as i know, obviously we must be missing something. Corel Support are involved and they haven’t found a fix.. My latest thoughts are Pop-Up Blockers, yes I know they are associated with internet browsers, but what about other Malware programs. What anti virus programs have you installed , including any Malware programs, just maybe one is interfering with the launch of X5. There is of course the UAC used in windows 7 that could stop the program, but running with admin rights should work.
-----------------------------------
Have you tried running the program from Safe Mode, not sure if it would run anyway??

Re: VS pro X5 install big time troubles
Ok first of all No I don't know how to do that run in safe mode all my other Corel programs have downloaded and work really good the other most recent of them would be Aftershot pro that I got around the same time as VS but it works fine no probs what so ever touch wood.
I have tune up utilities , Speedy PC pro, Trend Micro titanium Maximan security Microsoft security essential I was dumped by support but I got somebody new now a long story this is what they told me to try so far.
{ Clean up temporary files and Recycle Bin by launching the Disk Cleanup from Start menu >> Programs >> Accessories >> System Tools >> Disk Cleanup.
Launch Internet Explorer and do the following:
For Internet Explorer 7 or 8:
1.) Click Tool >> Internet Options;
2.) On the ''General'' tab >> ''Browsing History'' section, click on ''Delete''; under the Browsing History window, check all the data's to be deleted and click on ''Delete''.
3.) On the ''Security'' tab if reconfigured, click on ''Reset all zones to default level''.
4.) On the ''Privacy'' tab, temporarily uncheck ''Turn on Pop-up Blocker''. (you may re-enable this later after you have downloaded the required files).
5.) On the ''Advanced'' tab, click on ''Restore Advance Settings'' and ''Reset...''.
6.) Click on Apply and OK and then close the browser.
7.) Re-launch Internet Explorer and go to the specified sites.
Or, I suggest that you try a third-party program that supports resume downloading; you may use any of the following third-party software:
FMD Lite: http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/download.htm
Get Right: http://download.getright.com/getright-download.exe
Cute FTP: http://www.cuteftp.com/
Go!Zilla: http://www.gozilla.com/
These softwares support resume downloading. Since both the FTP site and the FTP client program support resume downloading, the FTP client will always download files from where it was disconnected the last time
Note: Before you install a program, a patch or an update and whenever you want to change something on your system on Windows Vista/Windows 7, You have to log in as administrator and the only way to get full administrator access is by turning off the User Account Control and right-click on a program, patch or update and go to "Run as Administrator". Otherwise, you will have problems working properly on your system.
Windows 7: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/Wind ... -on-or-off
Please do not hesitate to contact us with any further questions. }
Just so were not running on the same grounds thanks so much for your reply yet again and I am sorry this is a nuance
all these things have been tried and failed I used the GetRight program as well as suggested

Hi
Starting the computer in safe mode may allow you to install Video Studio, but to be honest I just do not know.
There will be no harm done in trying.

Re: VS pro X5 install big time troubles
Yes it is running and no it still wont install
This is what I tried with support since my last visit here just so were not running over the same ground.
[ 1.) Log on to an administrator account since ''Limited'' or ''Power User'' accounts won't let Corel software install, uninstall, or run properly.
2.) There are also services that utilize your system resources in the background like anti-virus and anti-spyware; you must disable these startup and services from starting up when Windows startup. Click on Start menu >> RUN and type: msconfig
The System Configuration Utility will open; click on the ''Services'' tab and temporarily check ''Hide All Microsoft Services''. Under the Service tab, temporarily disable all the services not related to Microsoft.
Next, click on the ''Startup'' tab and select ''Disable All''. Click on Ok when done and then restart again your computer.
(PLEASE NOTE: Make sure NOT to disable PROTEXIS LICENSING and/or PROTEXIS LICENSING V2 though):

3.) Disable your anti-virus/spyware, firewall and User Account Control (UAC) during this clean re-installation procedure; Windows 7 - Adjust User Account Control settings: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/975787
4.) Re-install the software.
5.) Run the software and observe. If it works, please re-enable your Internet, anti-virus, firewall, MSCONFIG's services & startup, etc. then run again the software. If the problem persists, check the services and startup one by one and observe which among these are preventing the software from running.
NOTE: You can undo the clean boot and return your computer to normal after the clean re-installation (e.g. the UAC in Windows 7).
