Pentax K-5 and ASP?
Pentax K-5 and ASP?
I'm considering buying a Pentax K-5, but I recall seeing negative things about Bibble 5 and the K-5, so now I'm wondering, how does AfterShot Pro fare with Pentax K-5?
Re: Pentax K-5 and ASP?
No problem with K-5's DNG files.

ASP fully supports DNG files, however if you already got your camera and want to try out ASP, I would recommend that you download the trial version of ASP, to see how it works with your new camera.
You can visit http://pnoy.me/coreltrials to download ASP trial.

Thanks, I already have a licence but I haven't yet bought the camera. I'm merely recalling some angry posts in the Bibble forum about Bibble 5 not doing justice to the superb sensor in the Pentax K-5, so I thought I'd better check before going ahead with my camera purchase.Abiel Corel NA wrote:ASP fully supports DNG files, however if you already got your camera and want to try out ASP, I would recommend that you download the trial version of ASP, to see how it works with your new camera.

Re: Pentax K-5 and ASP?
I use K5. Everything is just fine with the PEF files I use.
Plugins do help in filling some gaps.
I still continue to use (now deceased) LightZone for features ASP does not have.
There may be ways of doing similar things under ASP; I just do not have enough time and willpower to try!

Re: Pentax K-5 and ASP?
I've been using ASP with a K-5 for over a year and have had no problems. I have read about ASP not handling some aspects of K-5 images correctly, have been on the lookout and have not noticed that happening. And I love the K-5.

Currently there are some slight issues with white balance management when using the latest AfterShot Pro with RAW files generated by a K-5. Other than that, it works fine. I've been using Bibble/ASP for my K-5 since it was released.

Re: Pentax K-5 and ASP?
Hi,
I am just in the process of switching (back) to Linux, which means that I need an alternative to Lightroom.
Aftershot Pro seems nice, but the pictures from my Pentax K-5 (DNG files) all look ... dull. They have a grey tint
and don't look nearly as punchy as on the camera display or in Lightroom.
Does anyone else have this problem? Or is there an alternative import profile for the files from the K-5 that does
not exhibit said problem?

by default ASP renders quite flat. just push the contrast and vibrance sliders a bitFaber wrote:Hi,

Re: Pentax K-5 and ASP?
Do you have highlight recovery active?
In my case, I find that there's a huge difference in overall image contrast and "punchiness" when you just go from zero to one on the highlight slider.
