Write Metadata as batch
Is it possible to write Metadata (for example my name as Author of the Photo) as batch to all my photos or an range of them? It's annoying to write it in each Image from hand..

Yes, you jsut need to be in thumbnail view and you can make changes to all selected. Standard view will not work presumably so you do not get confused on which photos will get changed.

Re: Write Metadata as batch
I am not sure this answers the question the OP asked. I read it as being whether one can add metadata when processing a (presumably) download queue. The answer is that one can definitely add keywords to the batch. It would also be possible to make a preset that applied a regularly occurring keyword set to a selection of thumbnails, to give you a one-hit operation. Can we make the keyword data visible outside ASP though?kaymann wrote:Yes, you jsut need to be in thumbnail view and you can make changes to all selected. One can also have a script run on output batches, to print author data and copyright notices on ones photos. Whether these scripts can access the keywords and transfer them into EXIF fields, I confess I don't know.

Re: Write Metadata as batch
I try to explain what i try to do.
It's not about edit "Keywords" in the Metadata. I can select at the Metadata for IPTC the "Author" of the Photo, the "E-Mail Address" and the the "Copyright", i can edit them but i can only apply it for one photo.. I i edit Keywords they get applied on all photos that i selected.
Usually my EOS 5D writes my name itself in the Metadata from the Pictures (EXIF), but this do not appear in ASP and if i output my Photos as JPEG this Information is lost.
EDIT:
I just "solved" the Problem. I created an "copy shortcut" that only copies the "Author Name", the E-mail Adress and the Copyright. Then i selected my camera Name at the Metadata table and selected all Photos and insertet the Information on this way.

You can also create a Preset. Then call it when you import pictures in to your catalog.
I use both Preset and CopySet. That works fine.

Darktable 3. Bye bye aftershot.

Re: Write Metadata as batch
As far as I can see, my Sony A55 doesn't let me embed my name into my photographs. So my ability to experiment with presets and copysets was limited. I find that ASP does import the EXIF copyright string if I insert it manually into my photographs. It then shows up in the IPTC tags selection of the metadata panel, and will no doubt flow through to the dematrixed photos you output from ASP. Or be available to print as a copyright message if you print.
On my test shots, the command:
exiftool -list DSC03750.ARW | grep Mike
yields
Creator : Mike Murphy
Copyright : Mike Murphy
so:
exiftool -list yourphoto
will tell you the name of the tags your camera is exporting. One string will contain your name. As far as I can see, ASP imports the Copyright string and not the Creator. Go figure. If you want to put the copyright string into your photos prior to importation into ASP because the 5D doesn't (if it doesn't, I mean) store it, then you can do it thus:
exiftool -exif:copyright="Your name" *.CR2
then Bob's your uncle. Exiftool seems to be available free for wndows, linux, and mac alike.

Just use selective copy.cluhn wrote:Is it possible to write Metadata (for example my name as Author of the Photo) as batch to all my photos or an range of them? It's annoying to write it in each Image from hand..
Although your name as Author should be in the default preset: select a photo with no editing whatsoever, add whatever metadata you want in all of your pictures (and the default editing you'd like to apply to every picture; viz., deactivate autolevel) and then Edit/Settings/Save as Camera default.
