VSX4_Pro_TBYB.exe will not install

Post by mangurian »

My machine got screwed up and I installed an old image file. Whnm I try to reinstall VS Pro X4 it gets part way through and then stops saying it can't complete the installation. There is a -9 below the message which I am guessing is an error code.

I still have my serial Number, but I don't get that far.

Any ideas/help ??

Thanks,

I would suggest you first manually remove all of your previous install of VideoStudio X4 - the normal windows uninstall does not remove everything and it sounds like there are some corrupted files still on your computer.

To completely remove X4 follow the procedure described in this Corel article ;-

Thank you sir..............

I found some old VS data in my APPDATA which CARBONITE had reinstalled. I removed it and the install went fine.

Pretty shoddy installer/uninstaller, I'd say.

Software engineers/designers/programmers (of which I was one) have still not learned how to make things easy (aka idiotproof).
I used to tell my programmers and system designers: "ask yourself if your grandmother could do it or understand it."

This is one of the reasons some folks are running to certain tablets.
They will accept limited functionality just to ensure nothing goes wrong.

thanks again,
