[solved] How to actualize the catalogs ?

Post by wen452 »

(sorry for the language mistakes, but I'm french)

Hello,
I'm trying Aftershot to quickly decide to buy it or not (to take advantage of the until May 27 offer).
I ask myself a question :
I imported my photo-library, so far so good. But the fact is that I often add or delete photos. If I delete one, the catalog more or less takes it into account by putting a "?" on the thumbnail, but if I add one, I do not see it in my catalog, even if I restart the software. Maybe there is a manipulation to update it?

(Seeing how hard it is to just contact Corel, easily, by mail, isn't really encouraging to buy their products...)

The catalogue is just a small database that references the image files you've imported. As you've mentioned, if you delete a physical image outside Aftershot, then you'll see the thumbnail flagged, which is Aftershot's way of telling you it can no longer find the corresponding file. If you add images, they will not be in the catalogue database unless you import them - but you can easily just import a whole tree again, as ASP will no create duplicate records for things it already knows about.

So, just re-import the directories where you've added photos, and they'll be added to your catalogue.

thanks, for the answer :D
and by re-importing all (more than 1000 photos), I won't lose all the tags I had added on the ancient ones ?

And if I open a new picture, tag it and save it in my database, will ASP, when I'll import the whole database again, takes into count those tags ?
thanks !
