How to remove text effect?
Hello,
I am using one of the premade text effect that fades-in two lines of text. I want this fadein to (1) last 3 seconds but the title, once fully into view, to (2) remain on the screen for 10 seconds. I just can't figure out this second part.
I can duplicate the original title so the two lines are positioned correctly after the effect ends but then the effect starts over again. I can't get the two lines in the exact same places by recreating them. And if I take a screen shot of the final frame, again, I can't get it positioned so the lines of text are in the exact correct place.
I know there must be an easy way to do this but I can't find it.
You help is greatly appreciated.

Re: How to remove text effect?
Hi
If you need fade in - fade out then select the cross fade option, setting the pause durations.
If you wish to "fade in" and maybe "fly out" then use two titles.
Create the first title using Fade In at say 5 seconds
Right click the clip in the timeline and copy, drop the clip to the right then reposition (butt-up) do not overlap.
Your text should be in the same position.
Change the animation type of the second clip.
This approach works for some animation types but not all.
Remember to hit the two TT's to set the animations.
and what version of VS are you using?

Re: How to remove text effect?
I've been trying to redo the video to get the titles to work. I started from scratch and used a transition for the first title in the beginning to make it fades in and then fades out.
At the end of the movie I want to add other titles without transitions but every time I add a new title, even to a different track, the same transition from the first title is added. This is very frustrating as I can't figure out how to remove it.
I do not see the TT's you mention. When I choose/highlight the title I want to work with all I get is the blue Options tab and there is no TT's under there.
I am using VS X5.

Re: How to remove text effect?
transitions appear automatically for two reasons - one is that you overlap two items in the timeline when you insert them - VS then adds a transition so put items in the timeline and slide them gently together - the second reason is a setting in "Preferences" - press F6 then select the 'Edit' tab and right at the bottom is the option to always insert a transition via a checkbox - ensure that is not checked.
In any case if you have a transition in the timeline you do not want then simply delete it - highlight it and press the delete key on your keyboard - or slide the two titles/clips apart slightly and the transition should vanish.
Regarding the two T's Trevor mentions - look at your screen shot in your post above and you will see that the options panel has two tabs at the top "Edit" and "Attribute" - click on the attribute tab and you will see the two overlapping T's about a third of the way across near the top - you need to select animation to highlight them - but be aware that they are not available for all text effects , some of the effects do not use the two T's

Hi
I guess when you say "transition" you really mean "animation"
Click the Attributes tab
Click Animation radio button
Tick Apply
Deselect Apply to disable animation(transition)
Choose the Type of Animation from the drop down panel
Hit the TT's
As a side note.............
Go to Preferences F6
General tab
Display clip mode to Thumbnail only , will display the clip in full in timeline.

Re: How to remove text effect?
First, thank you both for the information!
Anyway, I found the TT and was able to turn off the transition.
Thank you both very much for taking the time to help me with this. I am very grateful for your help.

When I put the second title in it was at the end of the video and no where near the first one.VS then adds a transition so put items in the timeline and slide them gently together
It was uncheckedthe second reason is a setting in "Preferences" - press F6 then select the 'Edit' tab and right at the bottom is the option to always insert a transition via a checkbox - ensure that is not checked.
I did this several times and even added the second title to a different track and at the end of the video but it always had the transition attached. In any case if you have a transition in the timeline you do not want then simply delete it - highlight it and press the delete key on your keyboard.
They were not any where near each other to begin with... I know... weirdness huh!or slide the two titles/clips apart slightly and the transition should vanish.
I really hate it when they use grey letters on black! I didn't see that AT ALL before. And when you hover over it nothing happens, it doesn't get lighter or in any way show that it will do anything. I already put in a request that they improve the contrast or give a different theme option for the program because I really struggle using this program because I can't see the #%@! buttons etc.Regarding the two T's Trevor mentions - look at your screen shot in your post above and you will see that the options panel has two tabs at the top "Edit" and "Attribute" - click on the attribute tab and you will see the two overlapping T's ...

Hi trishah
Glad to hear you managed to edit the titles.
The grey coloured text on the workstation has been mentioned as a problem by some users, personally I have no issues with it, maybe I have just got used to it.
The two TT's should highlight and show a tool tip when floating your mouse, however will only do so when editing a title, and after ticking the Apply option.
Anyhow, good luck with your editing

Re: How to remove text effect?
I have used VideoStudio for many years whenever I need to create videos which isn't often but when I need to I have always liked the end results I get with VS. As a web designer and someone with a degree in Film and TV Production I have the skills to create quality videos... I'm just so frustrated that I have to keep fighting with the software simply because I can't see, and often cannot even find, the controls.
I'm not ready yet to abandon ship yet but, if anyone in charge is monitoring this... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE at least give us another choice of interfaces that has better contrast.
That's it for my soapbox speech. Again, thank you all for you assistance!

Hi Trishah
It is unlikely that anyone employed by Corel will read this post, I have been told that they do visit the "VideoStudio Pro X6 - Wishlist for future versions", from time to time
You may be best to post there.

I do know that Paint Shop Pro's workstation colour can be changed, I believe after a campaign by the PSP users, so it is possible and I see no reason why it cannot be implemented for Video Studio.
