Increase photo resolution

I have been approached by people wanting to print a bigger photo from a passport sized photo. First I scanned the photo at 600dpi & print it at a photolab at 4R size. Then I rescanned this 4R photo at 400dpi & I can print it up to 12"x8" I find this way is better than when I scanned the first photo at 1200dpi & print the enlargement straightaway. I have special access to the photolab & that makes things easier. For others make friends with the staff that they may help you when you need this service.

I have taken either of the Demo versions of each of these products and enlarged a 1 x 1 inch 72 dpi image to 9600 dpi, or 360 dpi at 20 x 30 inch will little loss of detail.

The Unlimited version will turn my 1 x 1 inch image into a Wall Mural.

They turn any Digital Image into near Film like quality making all of those square pixels blend perfectly.

If you have a way to avoid the glare, you can take a picture of the picture. That's what I've been doing to save myself all the frustration that comes with scanning. I have the Sony DSC V1. I make sure the flash is off, go out side, and take the picture. When I'm done, I go into photo impact and get rid of the glare and any flaws that come with it.

I just tried PhotoZoom Pro... not good. The plug-ins that come with the trial version are of little help (next to useless actually). I don't know about the full version though.

You can acheive better effects by resizing the image and applying a serries of filters in PhotoImpact like Emphasize Edges, Remove Moire, Reduce Noise or Beautify Skin...
