Videostudio Pro X5 and Digital Juice

Post by OurMemoriesinMotion »

Hey!
I'm new to the VideoStudio, so if this is a simple question, I apologize. I am trying to use Digital Juice's Jump Backs through the program. I'd like the jump back to overlay in front of another video scene. What is the best way to render in Juicer (digital juice software) that will make using it in VideoStudio the easiest?

I'm not familiar with Digital Juice software but if you are want to know what file format is best to export from Digital Juice, so that you will not have any problem when you edit it on VideoStudio, I suggest that you create an High-quality mpeg transport stream or the m2ts file format.

All of the DJ items I've used have been in SD projects, so I've always exported mine out as dv.avi's.

Wouldn't you still export them out of the Dj software using an appropriate format to your video files and then use them?

Digital Juice uses Alpha settings and allows the user to render the alpha separately from the main video animation. Some programs work better when this is done. Is VideoStudio one of them?

I've not used DJ in VS, as for my work I use tomson grass valley products.
I don't recall rendering the alpha channel seperately from the jump back animation, just rendered it out as a file suitable for my use. Did loads in one go and just collect them from my library now, so haven't actually rendered one for a few years :)
Have you tried it?
I can't just at the moment, as my new editing pc bits have just arrived and I'm swapping old editing pc for new office pc, so everything is in bits everywhere :)

what motherboard are you running? Where did you get the parts and about how much did it run you? I'm pricing out a new core i7, 16 GB system so any prices you found would be extremely helpful.

ga-z77x-ud5h_e
Intel 3770k processor
intel 120gb ssd boot drive,
8gb memory
new case/power supply
£669

I then have twin 1TB raid drives for backing up as I work on my current video projects, a 2TB drive for storing completed projects for a while in case cliennts want further copies or changes at a later date and a 200gb drive for odds and ends that I use regularly, like my jumpbacks etc :) a dvd rw and a blu ray recorder. All of this has come out of my old machine.

As I am a Microsoft MVP I get a MSDN subscription, so no having to pay for windows either :) Just getting rid of all the old stuff that's built up round my desk, like 5 printers, of which only 2 work now, and a million miles of cables!!! Hopefully it'll all be up and running later, but when it cools down I'll be back out in the garden, so may have to wait until tomorrow :(

Is there a process for getting into that? That sounds very intriguing to me. Plus, I am in need of a Win 7 64-bit OS in the near future.... :)

And to answer my original question, I did some digging around and experimenting and I found if I set up the video in StudioPro as the option that is not a mask (I'm not at my computer now and I can't remember what the term is) then the swipe will work as intended. Super easy!
