My Video Won't Share as MPEG4

Post by sd1233 »

My video won't share as a MPEG-4 HD. Here are the steps I take:

1. Click the "Share" Tab
2. Click "Create Video File"
3. Click "MPEG-4"
4. Click "MPEG-4 HD
5. Select the destination folder for the output
6. Click "Save".

The progress shows 0% and the progress bar goes away after fifteen seconds. I am sharing it as an MPEG-4 HD file because it will be placed on Youtube by someone else. I've probably done four of these projects the same way and they execute just fine.

Here's some more informtion:

Brand: Dell Laptop
HDD: 464GB; Used Space 153GB; Free Space 311GB
Processsor Intel(R) Cor (TM) i7 CPU Q820 #1.73GHz 1.73GHz
Ram: 8GB
System Type: 64 Bit Operating System
Pen and Touch: Pen and Touch is available through 80 touch points
The video is a WMV2, 24 bits 1024 x768, 29.982 frames/second; Audio is windows media audio version 4, aspect ratio is 1.33 x 1.00. It is editable.

Here's how my timeline looks:

BLACK GRAPHIC = 2 SECONDS; TRANSITION (FADE TO BLACK) = 2 SECONDS; 10 SECOND CLIP; 3 SECOND CLIP; 00:42:33 CLIP.

Thank you for your help.

I just tried it again by clicking the timeline to ensure no clip was selected. I got a window stating " cannot read audio. (0xc00d002f). [18300:8000:190]. The audio is WMV. Again, I've not had this problem before.

This can be a codec or a directx issue. You may need to update them.
Here are some of the codecs that you may want to install.

Thanks for the reply. All codecs are up to date and I still have the problem. As per Corel, I also tried creating another windows 7 user with Admin rights. Then, I tried rendering the MPEG-4 video to no avail. My system has been down for a week because of this problem so any additional suggestions are appreciated. Thanks everyone.

Since you got an audio related error message have you tried to create the mp4 file without any audio to see if that is where your problems lies.

Where did you get the original video clip? It seems to be standard 4;3 video and will not look that good in HiDef video.

Why would your IS department recommend such a web-site from Russia?

It could of course be someone with a playful sense of humour rather than necessarily Russian. Mind you, at least I got a kick out of the CCCP bit because it is the Cyrillic equivalent of USSR...

That being said, the error message is probably a sensible one and sd1233 would probably be wise to update his DirectX as per the instructions in the relevant sticky up at the top of this forum... It has been known to cure a variety of problems.

Hi Ken, thanks for the suggestion. I ran the DirectX end user runtime installler to deternine which dx updates were needed. I still cannot render an MPEG-4 from this particular file. I did try to do one from a previous file that I had already done an MPEG-4 and it worked. This project does include two YouTube videos. I have done this in previous projects and have had no problems. Also, I compared the settings (Preferences and Project Settings [project options] in the project I was able to render an MPEG-4 and the one that I cannot. Everything is the same. The only difference I can see is that I split the audio/video in the project I cannot render. I also notice that this project will only play a couple of seconds at the beginning and then stop. I had this problem in my succesful MPEG-4 project as well so that should not be an issue I wouldn't think. Thanks again for your help everyone.

No worries Canuck. Thanks for your help. (I almost wrote as a joke "because my IS guy is Russian").

Here is a small utility MediaInfo (http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en )that shows a lot of information on media files. Perhaps it shows some difference that X5 does not show.
