VSPro X5: Enable Hardware Encoder greyed out

Post by Ari Kagura »

Hi!

I downloaded the trial for Video Studio X5 and have managed to make a few videos already with it (mostly desktop screen recordings in 1080p). However, after realizing how slow my renderings were, I toyed around with the settings and noticed that the Enable Hardware Encoder option is greyed out. Meaning that I cannot enable it. I can, however, enable other Hardware acceleration features.

I'm not totally sure what the issue might be since I'm pretty sure my GPU supports this feature ... or does it? Or could it be a limitation of the trial version ... ?

Currently, I'm running:
+ Windows 7 64-bit
+ EVGA Nvidia GTX 670 2GB
+ Intel i7-3770 Ivy Bridge
+ 16 GB DDR3 1600
Other hardware information can be found in my profile.

Also, system information as sourced from the Nvidia control panel:

As far as we are aware, the trial version is the full version with nothing disabled. Just a few less templates and similar things to save downloading space. So hardware acceleration should work -- it does on mine with a far more ancient graphics card.

Thanks for the response, Ken. I suppose it's good to know that nothing is crippled in the trial, aside from the templates, which I'm not too worried about.

The funny thing is that I can get hardware encoder acceleration to work on other programs like Cyberlink MediaEspresso but not with Corel VS Pro ... so I'm not really sure what the problem could be. Could it be a driver issue? Should I try installing beta drivers instead of release drivers?
