Hi Guys
Thanks for all the work on this.
It is the captions tag, don't ask me why. All the others that have been going walkabout have the same issue, no caption and tried it on one which has not been in the frame with the current exercise and the same result - the dreaded BoD
Perhaps Corel are preparing the software to deal with photo captions much like the Windows program does and have not told anybody.
Just given the rogue photo a caption and it loaded, so that must be it.
So we have the work around but just don't know why.
I have logged this issue with Corel but that is how far it got. I sent them the DMP file and have yet to receive any response from them. Anybody here have some clout?
Once again folks thanks for the help in solving the problem. Now I can get those photos into a video show. I just must remember to give everything a description even if I am not going to upload it to the family website.

Hi
Simply re-saving the file as a Jpeg without changing anything cures the file and you are able to add to timelines.
So you should be able to use an image editor to batch re-save the lot. You shouldn't have to do this but its a workround.
As we said earlier versions of VS do not have this problem

Agreed that is another way of solving the problem. Considering I just use the snaps to load onto the family website and it is in VS that I make the story it is easier for me to simply enter a dummy description - saves me having to load an image editor and go through another process. Just my personal preference.

Seems to me that using Trevor's suggestion of batch processing the photo files would be easier then having to "simply enter a dummy description" for each photo.AWally wrote:Agreed that is another way of solving the problem. Are the problem photos copied straight from the camera to your hard drive without any processing? What camera make/model? I have never had a problem with any photo files (direct from camera).

Re: VSP x5 Crashes when trying to access some photos in libr
Hi
The camera is a HP Photosmart 735, at least that's what my pc tells me.
I was wondering if the camera's menu had a global option to input a description, with this selected it will be expecting some data, all images not filled in seem to be giving problems.
Difficult to test out when not having the camera to hand.
Even so X5 should not be giving problems.

Re: VSP x5 Crashes when trying to access some photos in libr
You are right, the camera make/model is given in the EXIF data.
I do not see how you could add a photo description while taking pictures
Perhaps Awaly is adding the "naming" when he is downloading from the camera to the PC using the HP software which may allow adding descriptions at that time.
Any any case, Corel has made some change between X4 and X5 that changes the processing of the input and causes a problem.
