Oversharpened Images

Post by therapy97 »

Ok, something weird has started to happen... when I OPEN up .PNGs, .JPGs, etc. they are all over-sharpened and also save that way... does anyone know why this would be happening right from the get-go (meaning, as soon as I open the image)? When I open up the same images in Gimp, all is looking the way it should be.

Ok, let me add some new info that might shed more light on this...

I opened up prior images (JPGs & PNGs) in both PIX3 and Gimp to see the differences. I then found that if I went to "Reduce Noise" and adjusted "Luminance Noise" to somewhere between 55-70 on the scale, then it looked the same way as Gimp opening them. So, I guess now I want to know if there is a way to permanently adjust that factor when opening images, since PIX3 seems to be over sharpening images opened and saved in it.

I'm not sure if it is a PI issue or the actual photographs that PI is picking up and Gimp is not.
It is difficult to say without actually looking over your shoulder.

All software is different and if the adjustments work in PI to your satisfaction then ok. If you have a lot of photographs to adjust, either do a batch conversion or make a small Task.

I wish I had the answer your are looking for. Perhaps someone who dabbles more into photography than I may come along and help.
