Isolating a section in an edit to render

Post by johnwoofan »

1st post (after looking at these boards for months) Go easy! :D

I have a 30 minute project and I want to render a particular 4 min section on its own from my edit timeline. Is there anyway I can do this without rendering the whole
30 minutes, chopping it, rerendering!

Any help would be great!

hello John - welcome to the forum

yes indeed it is quite easy to do what you want to do.

With your video in the timeline make sure you select "Project" mode and then use the orange 'Mark In' and 'Mark Out' sliders on the horizontal line under the preview screen, just click and drag them to the position you want - an orange line will appear above the timeline to indicate the selected portion - you can if you wish play this selection by clicking on the play icon, to ensure you have it correct.

Now click on the "Share" tab at the top of the screen and when the share options window opens select "Create Video File" - choose the format you want to make - in the next window were you choose where to save it and what to call it look towards the bottom right corner for a button labelled "Options" - click on it - in the new pop up change the radio button from 'Entire Range" to "Preview Range" - click OK and then name and Save the file - this will create a video of just the bit you want, named what you want , in the location you chose.
