Unspecified Error VS x4 on start up

Describe your problem: When I open the program the start up loading image come up then an error box saying that an unspecified error has occur and I should contact customer support.
What devices are involved and their mode of connection?: No devices really just trying to open the program on my laptop
The Version of program is being used: x4
Please list all patches/updates that have been installed relating to that version of the program.: I just installed the 2nd patch after this started happening hoping it would fix it, I tried to install the first one but it didn't work.
Details of the source files.: Not sure what this means? I don't really think it applies since its before I can even open projects


I use a windows 7 notebook, 4 gig of ram. This problem just popped up tonight, I am still able to open x3 on my computer though. When I did some lookin at the event logs, its showing that the problem file is the psiclient? I tried to look information up on this and all I could find was pirated stuff, which I don't think would help me considering I bought this over a year ago legally.

Any ideas of what I can do? I tried looking through here and I couldn't find anything. I am currently on vacation so a re-install isn't an option at the moment.

Protexis Licensing Service ... is a small piece of software installed along with most Corel products. The PSI Services can be seen running via the Task Manager.

Modifying or changing the installation files can cause this error.
So have you changed any files within the Corel X4 installation.?

The easiest option would be to re-install, not an option for you at the moment.

You could try resetting the workstation to its default/installed state, you would loose the libraries, as they are restored to default.

Rename the folder 14.0 to "14.0 Old, when you stsrt VS X4 a new 14.0 folder will be created.

Go To C:\Users\User Name\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro\14.0\en-US

Note:- there are details on the web regarding disabling Protexis, do not attempt this as you may find X3 will also be disabled.

I haven't touched the installation files, scared to do that lol. Ah yeah I don't want to disable that then lol especially if it affects other corel programs cause my computer is full of them

OMG IT WORKED! Took forever to find the folder but thats okay all that matters is it worked, I can re upload the libraries no problem. Thank you soooooo much! I was to the point of thinking of getting x5 just to get to my x4 projects even though its not in the budget right now lol. Now I can save x5 to get later and relax on my vacation yay!
