VideoStudio Pro X5 Trial Version Limitation?

Post by johnpr98 »

Hi

Some of you may remember me from Creative Cow and various Ulead forums when I used to answer the questions?

I started of with the ADS Pyro and Video Studio v3 (A long time ago  ) and I am currently using Media Studio Pro v 8 and DVD Workshop v2 on XP

I have just downloaded the VideoStudio Pro X5 trial onto my Toshiba laptop, Windows 7, 64bit, My problem with previous versions of VS is that I couldn't edit with more than one video track, I see the new version has an option for more, unfortunately this is disabled in the trial version :(

Can I edit two to three seperate camera tracks, video and audio with VS now in the same was as MSP8 is my simple question?

Many thanks

Hi John

The trial version of VideoStudio X5 is fully functional 100% complete with no limitations at all - in fact it is even more complete that previous trial versions in that it comes complete with all the bonus content that you had to wait to download after you purchased before. Nothing has been disabled - what would be the point of that - how could you evaluate a product if you couldn't use it all.

I do not understand your comments about not being not having overlay tracks in previous versions - or in X5 - I can't recall when overlay tracks were introduced but version 7 most definitely has one and I think since then they have increased with each version - X5 has 20 overlay tracks - all available to you in the trial version even.

If you look along the top of the timeline where the time code is - go to the very left hand end where you will find two icons - hover your cursor over them - and the mouse tip will show, one will say 'Track Manager' - the other says 'Show all visible Tracks' - click on the Track manager and you will see the option to select up to 20 overlay tracks.

If you can't find the overlay tracks perhaps a screen shot will help us to understand what you are seeing

there is a topic running at the moment regarding multi-camera editing - perhaps that may help you - it is here :-

Thanks for the clarification about the full version, having Video Track #1 greyed out raised my suspicion it wasn't a full version, as per the screen shot posted in the multi cam topic by another Mod, I also asked the question there as well, unfortunately my posts were held up in moderation.

I agree 100%, however VS has been released in a cut down trial version previously and I missed anything saying the product was fully functional
Microsoft Office is quite specific in it's cut down version

Thanks for your help and passing on your knowledge to a newbie using Corel VS who only downloaded it this morning, I'm a bit wiser now :D

Will VS convince me to move along from MSPro, DVDWS and XP which still works fine for HD/DVD, however I am now on Windows 7 and will soon be going down the SD card camcorder route and Blu Ray and this may force my hand ;)
