Display Date and time in captured video

Post by CBR_Guy »

Hi All,
I have VS8 and a Sharp VL-PD6 miniDV camcorder. I was wondering is there anyway to display the time and date in the clip, when i output to the TV from my camcorder i can change the display to show or hide the time and date on the screen. This does not seem to have any effect on the DV output to my PC. Is there any way to do this ?

Thanks

Chris

VS 8 cannot do it.
Video Studio 9 afaik has the ability to show the video timecode, depending on your pc's capability.
You can only view the time in clip mode not project playback, i do not think the time will be transfered to your video. But you could use the info to make a title.

there are programs on the market, search for DV Time Stamp

for a start

Floating the mouse over the library clip title will show the recording date.

You can do it in VS8, but you can only do it if you capture from an analog source, not capturing from firewire.

Surely thats the wrong way round - you can only do it on firewire captured DV-AVI video not analogue.

In V8 if you hover your mouse cursor over the thumbnail in the library after a second or so a pop out box will appear showing filename and date of FILMING. use that information to make a small title which you can park in any convenient position on your screen.

afaik

analogue capture will capture anything that is showing on your cam-corder screen. Including date, time, battery level, anti shake on, anything.

It may vary with different cameras, but the ones i have used , I have had to remove the display before capture to have a clear screen.
