having difficulty configuring psp x 3

Post by leastof1000hacks »

hi.

long story short for now. i upgraded to psp x 3 and also upgraded my graphix card from a directx 10 [hd4890] to a directx 11 radeon hd7850. so i can install the new pspx3 disc but i can't get the program to open. it works okay with the older video card and it also works on my old lappie. so for sure there is conflict between my new graphix card and new psp x 3. thanks for any input.

I can't find it in writing anywhere, but I had Corel tell me some time back, in a support case, that PSP X3 requires DirectX 9.0c or higher.

I have seen X3, and particularly the PhotoLooks plugin that comes with X3 Ultimate, have problems with some video adapters. Apparently, the minimum requirements published by both Corel and Red Giant are not necessarily sufficient. I guess that just varies with video hardware.

I don't know if you are using the Project Creator application that comes with X3 (I don't), but I have seen it complain about the system not supporting DirectX 7, when I actually had DirectX 9 installed. As it turned out, the problem was that it didn't like my video driver; the problem had nothing to do with DirectX.

well i had posted this problem on various sites before eventually finding my way here to corel.

i am pretty certain that when psp x3 was released that directX 11 would have been in place, so that should be okay. like i said, the program installs fairly rapidly when i use my old grafix card but when i use the new graffix card and i watch the progress bar of the installation it gets stuck at 11% for 2 - 3 minutes .

when you try to open the program does it always hangs on the same spot? You should be able to see that on the splash screen. Also can you try resetting your workspace, since this can also cause the problem. You can do that by pressing and holding down the SHIFT key then double-click on the PSP icon then when you received the message "DO YOU WAN TO RESTORE PAINTSHOP Pro TO ITS DEFAULT STATE?" just click OK.

okay thanks, i tried your suggestion and no difference.

i notice when i install the program i have to reboot before i can get any sort of response. and the best reponse i can get is the splash screen showing "initializing command manager". if i click on the splash screen a couple of times i get the windows option box with the option close the prog. and check online for a solution. i do this and no online check is carried out. suspicions arising with my router (sagem) / intel 82583 gigabit network connection ? i can't remember when exactly, before or after i purchased the psp x 3 disc but it could well have been before. i crashed the connection with my router and could not remember my log in details for the sky user page if that makes sense. so i had to reset the router to it's default settings. i was thinking maybe the intel netw. connect. got a bit upset.

having checked... it looks like the router crashed after installing psp x 3 but i can not be 100 % sure. it is a close call to be sure.

i should mention too that when i fitted the new graphix card, i was unable to open psp x 2, and i was also unable to uninstall it. this meant a clean installation of windows7 and was also the reason i upgraded to psp x 3 as i thought perhaps the disc was Used. i could even upgrade to psp x 4 but i don't see any point in doing so as there is a chance it wil;l not work either. as for psp x 3 i have it installed on my laptop but really need it on my desktop. sorry for any confusion.
